WOOT! *pumps fist*
Just won a new Encore Optimus Prime on eBay, $36! My old original G1 Op can now rest, as the new guy will take up the cause to destroy the evil forces of the Decepticons.
I've recently installed 6 new tires and some new chrome on my original Prime, such as the bumper/grill and stacks, but his leg chrome and fuel tanks are still heavily worn, not to mention his decals, paint, and plastic. The trailer's a little rough, too, some bad magic marker detailing from 20+ years ago looking like not such a good idea now. This new one is going to be AWESOME! He will remain utterly unmolested.
I remember playing with that Prime all the time back then, altho I can't actually remember when I got him. I'll remember this one, tho. Yay online commerce!

OK, tax preparation is done. Was nerve wrecking to do so (especially with some paperwork initially missing) so what do we do to calm down? SPLURGE!
My wife and I took a little trip to Amsterdam for some souvenir shopping for relatives and friends, since we're heading for the US in two weeks. Of course, I visited my faithful store of imported TF's and added these to my collection:
TM-08 Archadis (Because of the BM Dinobot Spark Crystal, I'll cat him as Airraptor)
BWII VS-14 Tasmania Kid vs Dirge (Anybody have Scuba vs. Thrust?)
Galaxy Force GC-08 Auto Micron
I wasn't satisfied however, I saw a small Mini-Con Booster package that said to me "buy me!". Mind you, it was opened and the contents known. But I didn't but it, and regretted it a little while later. Even my wife asked why I didn't it
He even had someone to go with him! So I went back, got them both and asked the owner if he had the third one. He checked out back, got the whole case, and needed to open only one (Lucky Day Pick
) to get the third I wanted. Here they are:
Gnashties
Ironlunge
Repticus
Those were the Japanese repaint of the Dinobot Mini-Cons, and Predacons to boot. So yeah, I'm very happy

Re: Transformers Toy haul thread
Well, around two weeks ago, I once again took a trip to my mother's, picking up a pair of transformers on the way, they are:
Universe 2.0 Galvatron: Despite the many faults that this guy has, I think he's brilliant, I mean, from the inventive transformation to the 'space cannon' mode you can put him in (using the feet in the back kibble, of course), and his articulation (even if he falls over sometimes). I also like the fact that Hasbro didn't go for a standard H-tank or whatever, but a Merkava, one of the best looking tanks, in my opinion...overall, I have to say I'm pleased.
Universe 2.0 Acid Storm: Saw this guy in a Sainsbury's store, and, since I didn't have the mold before, plus it's a rather obscure character, I picked him up...although the null ray cannons falling out when posing can be a bit of a headache, I do like his deco-he looks very badass standing beside Galvatron, ready for battle. The only other complaint is that his arms are quite stiff when moving them, so I often end up taking his cannons off and forcing the darn things up! Still, it could have been worse, he could have been so floppy the only role he could play would be a robotic corpse!
Sorry for the rather long 'review' sections, I just had stuff to say and wanted to get it off my chest...

It should, hopefully. There is a thread saying they've moved Arcee and Soundwave/Ratbat's release to May sometime. Long as we get those last two, I'm ok with it being cancelled, it was going to happen anyways.
I'm wondering however, if maybe this is a marketing ploy to spur interest in the line again, maybe sell the pegwarmers?

Re: Transformers Toy haul thread
Sideswipe, TF2 and Sideways came in. Swipe is really nice in person, kind of hard to finagle into bot mode the first time but really cool.
Sideways, damn, it was great till I get to where his head was supposed to pop up. Notice I said SUPPOSED to. Damn thing was gone, a peg. So I've got a Sleepy Hollow Sideways and no answer from the guy who sold it to me.
Life is so grand sometimes

HE'S HERE!!! Encore Optimus Prime, MISB, $36 on eBay!

(Huge pic, sorry, here's the link: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/ ... Encore.jpg)
That's my original, vintage G1 Optimus Prime, bought for me back in 1984 (I would guess), my first, actual "Transformer". I've recently begun restoring him w/ new chrome and tires and some paint touch-ups, but the new one is going to be fun. I'm giddy as a little boy!!

Re: Transformers Toy haul thread
I was in for a pleasent surprise when I strolled into a local toy store today. I've wanted a G1 or G1-style Smokescreen for a couple of years. I've been out of the loop with regards to TF for the last five months or so, so I had no idea a Universe/Classic Smokescreen had been made. I had resisted buying a Classic Prowl for this very reason last summer (and because I already have the G1 Prowl). And this was the last one in the shop too! I also found about about the Classic style Hound and Cyclonus! Just when you think you might have kicked the habbit they find a way to pull you back in
