Got universe armada hot shot today

Postby shortround » Fri Apr 10, 2009 9:28 pm

I have to say I'm not as impressed with this figure as thought I would since they removed the mincon gimick which was one of things that made the figure an armada figure to begin with. But I have always liked the look of this figure and since I wasn't collecting back then I'm glad I was able to get some sort of version of him.

You got him today?

I'm sorry.

This is without a doubt the worst figure overall in the entire Classics line, with the only things worse being a couple of the Classics Minicons from a couple years ago.

Ani Skywarp and Shockwave.

The greys on Skywarp work a lot better than I was expecting them to, a nice reworking of the more traditional colours.

A couple of niggles with Shockwave. If you leave the crane on his back in Longarm's robot mode, as the instructions show, you end up with a clearly visable 'con emblem showing, not great for undercover work. The paint on either side of his face doesn't line up properly meaning that his chin line looks wrong when the head's configured as Shockwave, though it's not noticable when he's set up as Longarm. I'll be displaying this version as Longarm alongside the Elite Guard and the purple version as Shockwave when I get hold of one so the paint issue on the face isn't too much of an issue and the crane will just have to arm mounted to keep that pesky badge out of sight.

Or, you can flip the crane upward if you choose to keep it on his back and his head hides the con emblem. That's what I did lol. I too, was botherd by that symbol being visible. One helluva way to blow cover!

I did try that but then the panel behind his neck won't fold down against his back and I found that just as annoying. In all fairness I was only planning to keep the weapon stowed on Longarm to further differentiate him from Shockwave, as it is I'll now be having Longarm favour his left hand and Shockwave his right, although that should probably be switched around to give Shockers more of a G1 feel with his weapon placement.

Motto: "Innocent!"
Weapon: Wrist-Launched Heat-Seeking Missiles
-Universe Hound and Ravage, who will tide me over until I can get the Henkei version
-Universe Dinobot
-Henkei Ironhide
-Preordered Henkei Smokescreen

Also walked into my specialty store, and they were kind enough to set aside - with a desposit - the Target Animated Bumblebee and Shockwave pack, as well as the ONLY Universe Armada Unicron they're going to get, period. I got lucky. At last, the chaos-bringer is mine. :D

Thrust does look good. The one I received had one of it's wing engines loose inside the package. And since I'm keeping this MISB for grading I'm waiting for TFSource to send me the RMA for an exchange.

I had to set mine free  I don't have the botcon version but I'm going to get another set of both to keep Misb and a Dirge to open. They did a great job on these IMO. 8)
