I didn't. I got them from TRU.com. I live on the boarder of Flushing/Fresh Meadows so I go to the Douglaston and College Point TRUs. I doubt they'll restock before Christmas.
I can get the engine to stay on red alerts gun but not well. The first time I put it on it was tight, then I tried to put it in his hand.

I do this with my Sideswipe. It helps a lot to put the gun in his hand first, then attach the engine. It's annoying, but it works in the end.

I just wish that Hasbro would make sure a gimmick works before advertising it.

Did Hasbro ever officially promote that feature? I always figured it was just something we fans figured out.

I can't speak for Japan but the engine gimmick wasn't advertised until Punch/Counterpunch and Red Alert. I remember somebody asked at a Bot-Con when the mold was first released that about it and the person from Hasbro said it was an idea they had but abandoned due to cost. Probably a $0.05 clip that would've fixed everything.
