He will be yours if you want him! And Cary, Pounce can be yours if you want him. Thunderwing, Magnus Prime, and Metalhawk are the 3 that I'd like to keep!
Also, Cram: have you picked up the Velocitron set, or are you thinking about it? What guys do you want from that set?
Well, it seems I want everyone from the BBTS set..As for Velocitron, I think I really only want Laser Prime and Rodimus, but I could be convinced to keep all of them too

I'm afraid you haven't converted me to the Pretenders side either, Dmax.
But, speaking of Pretenders, if you're keeping the Thunderwing head you should do what I think ScottyP jokingly said on the podcast once. He suggested using it as Cons4Eva.

Stop by my collection thread! Check out my plastic robots of the transforming type and other stuff I probably shouldn't spend my money on.

So, not out to convince you guys, but I'm curious as to what's holding you back. Is it something more than their really simple transformations and the inner bots looking crap and the alt modes even worse?

Prime is pretty slick and looks better than the retail release in ways. I'd thought about keeping him if I hadn't already made a deal with Cobo and had the vanilla version.

Was also thinking of maybe using quickswitch as the body for one of my Titan masters, but no idea who would work

I like Pretenders... or do I? Maybe I'm just "pretending".
No. I do. I thought they were dumb as hell, when I was a kid. But now, they are just the kind of stupid I am into. Maybe I'll get off my duff and try tracking some down. Those Super Pretenders are quiet awesome.

So this is what being "mainstream" feels like
[quote="D-Maximus_Prime"][quote="carytheone"][quote="D-Maximus_Prime"]maybe Prime, still on the fence about him

Was also thinking of maybe using quickswitch as the body for one of my Titan masters, but no idea who would workWell I got Prime for $10 and was surprised with how much I like him. I was also going to wait for Octane as well. I may still pick up Octane. The alt modes are a little funky in spots, but that's the nature of triple changers. Funky or not it is a fun mold to transform. I totally get a Prime/RID vibe from the truck though.
I like QS, but you have Sixshot, so nothing new there other than loud colors. It is a very fun mold to tinker with while watching TV with Mrs theone. Why not just use QS's actual TM in him? What's the story there?
Also spoiler, Fastclash is kinda derpy, but in a lovable dumb pretenders kinda way

I don't know, I was thinking of taking advantage of the head swapping gimmick to maybe use bodies of figures I didn't really want and make a cool body for another character that is just a head. Laser Prime may have had this fate as well if it weren't for "Optimus Prime" being tattooed on his chest

Yeah liking Cary I'm not particularly interested in G1 toys. I look for good articulation and good looks in both modes. Unfortunately, G1 toys don't necessarily excel in those fields.

There is potential there for them to definitely improve the shells. And given modern engineering, the likes of the updated mini-bots for example, the inner robots should be leaps and bounds ahead of their G1 incarnations.
Perhaps all those hollow arms and legs in modern figures aren't about saving on plastic, but buttering us up for Pretender shells?

One could make the argument that Revoltech are the new action masters
Though I would love some new Action Masters with actual alternate modes

Just had to throw that in. Although I think I really only enjoy G1 Galvatron and G1 Sixshot as of late.
Pretenders be pretending! Still awesome.

Too much articulation Take a walk down the toy aisle, there are a ton of non branded "Action Masters"

Knowing Hasbro if they were to reboot Pretenders and Action Masters, they do some sort of bastardized hybrid kinda how they did with the Headmasters and Targetmasters of the TR line. I could be off on the Targetmasters, but didn't they name some of the TMs after Targetmasters. I do hope Hasbro brings some of that sweet Takara Targetmaster action state side.

I have a soft spot for Pretenders. I had Skullgrin as a kid. I didn't play with the shell all that much, but the robot was awesome. His hands flip out to guns for transformation and I always loved that.
I dunno if I'll buy any for my collection since I only plan to buy G1 characters from the American toon. But you never know.
