Transformers MP-51 Arcee Discussion
Re: Transformers MP-51 Arcee Discussion

Arcee is further proof that the current head of MP design needs to have "STOP TRYING TO NEEDLESSLY DISAPPEAR WHEELS" stapled to his forehead.
You seriously think that this single step warrant all those sacrifices and odd design choices? Come on, man. It's like blaming how poorly built a house is based on what picture frames hang on the walls. This make no sense.
Transform Element OP Leader and Ocular Max Azalea both have their vehicle wheels completely disappear in bot mode. Yet both their transformations are relatively straightforward and simple and their bots have basically no kibble.
Disappearing wheels is as simple as turning a panel and or folding some panels over. It's no rocket science. MP-44 may be a bit overcomplicated, but at least he look good. This official MP Arcee is just BAD all over. You cannot blame a "single cause" when the cause is lost.
A bit baffling that this official Arcee fail so hard because the designers had so many 3P options to learn from.
Perhaps I should have said kibble and not just wheel, those were just on the forefront of my mind because of MP-47. In any case, the designer was desperately scrambling to avoid integrating any of the altmode into the robot mode and vice versa, not even a concession of the thighs forming part of the car aft as was done on T30 Arcee. Forget learning from 3P, they couldn't even learn from a toy they themselves did six years ago! And then tried to compress that down to a Deluxe.
Also, I think I realized what's off about her chest. They made the top of her "bosom" a separate slope from her collar area, and squashed it down to below the armpit. On the actual cartoon design, the collar area is incorporated into the upper part of her chest, the slope of which extends to the top of her shoulders.
I had to go check that, but you're right, they basically got rid of the slope on the top for some reason and made her collar go too far down. I knew there was something off about the design but I couldn't put my finger on it. That also ads to the "wearing a box" look to her.

Yeah, they each have their pros and cons, none are perfect. But the fact that all 3 are as "ok" when looking at these pros and cons while one of those is a 150$ masterpiece is definitely saying something.

Yeah, that the creator of her character model went too far with making things look good and not taking realistic physics in mind. She's almost like an Orbot

Yup. Some obvious flaws are acceptable for a 15$-30$ toy. But for a 150$-200$ toy that call itself MASTERPIECE? Oh hell naw.
By the way, I finally dug up my Arcees from the box left in the "no man's land" room. Unfortunately my T-30 Arcee was exposed to a open spot of the box just right for two years. She now have a orange chest.... It's kinda stylish actually.

After seeing these and a few other, I actually think Arcee looks pretty damn good. Alt mode is perfect. I would have been ok if her thighs were used as the back fender parts, making them white instead of pink, but I know people would complain. In robot mode she looks great and has good articulation. However, yes her chest is a bit too low, thats really the only problem with the figure and its not that bad.

Yeah, in all honesty, if they hadn't molded her entire upper torso to sit so low on her body (which also eliminates the area of her middle torso that she had on both her animation model and her Thrilling 30 toy but not here), I'd be fine with this Arcee, backpack and all.

Transformers MP-51 Arcee Australian Release Confirmed
- Weapon: Vibro-Axe
Thanks to our very own Burn, we have some great news for Australian fans! He's discovered that latest Masterpiece figure, MP-51 Arcee, will be exclusive to the EB Games and Zing stores on that continent. EB Games did have a listing earlier, but it's since been taken down. Hopefully, both sites will have preorders available soon, so Transformers fans from down under can have the opportunity to order the second female Masterpiece figure.

Additionally, MP-39+, Spinout, is also being offered at EB Games, and there is a preorder up for him.

Are you excited for this release, Australian fans? Underwhelmed? Either way, let us know below, and stay tuned to Seibertron for all your Transformers news!

Well, that sagging chest is even more distracting and unappealing than the "cancerous growth" backpack.

Re: Transformers MP-51 Arcee Discussion
She's not perfect but I think she looks awesome. Yeah, the proportions are weird in certain areas and the backpack looks messy from a lot of angles, but they clearly put a lot of thought and design work into this. My only surprise is there's no Daniel figure or stand. It remains to be seen if she can actually stand without one because of those tiny feet. But I'll find a solution. Excited to add her to my collection.
I wasn't so sure about Bumblebee 2.0 but I ended up really liking him. So I'm sure Arcee will be great.
One thing this highlights is the odd proportions of MP Hot Rod. I'm not in a rush for another one, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're planning it.

I was thinking the same thing. The chest on Hot Rod is really bad and the fact that he has the two red pieces behind his shoulders that break up the yellow spoiler is also really bad. That mold drives me crazy, and not in a good way. Arcee, while not perfect, is a step in the right direction from flat torso Hot Rod.

While a new - gimmick-free - MP Rodimus Prime would be the ideal, I wonder who would be most likely as the next of the MP Movie characters? Kup? Springer? Blurr? ...Wheelie?

Looks nice but oof, $150 again. Not a fan of this current trend of MP’s going for double what they used to be. Still holding out hope for a sale on Hound, he’s one I’ve been wanting even before he was announced.

Yes, I'd rather have any of the other 1986 main movie cast other than another Hot Rod. They had 2 shots at him ... time for someone else!
