Welcome Seibertronians, Transtopians and readers: seibertron.com is proud to announce the revival of the seibertron.com art challenge--this time bigger and better than before!

This time it will be a monthly challenge taking place on the 1. or 2. of each month with the best 3 entries receiving a special signature for 1. 2. and 3. place.
But we also need a bit of help from those that cannot make art themselves; we need 3 judges every round.

This is how it works:

A subject for the challenge is chosen and contestants will then have 14 days to submit their entries. The judges will have 7 days after submission to discuss via PM the three that they think deserve to be ranked 1. 2. 3. These will then be announced and highlighted at the end of the month. The winner will then pick the challenge subject for the next round.

Judges will be re-picked each month to prevent corruption, but former judges can re-apply if they want to. Simply apply by sending Dead Metal a PM.

To submit your entry simply post it as an attachment or with "img tags" in the corresponding thread by clicking here.

This month's subject is:

Transformers comic art re-imagined

For this round you just pick a panel from any Transformers comic, be it old or new and render it in your own way. Comic panels can be found either by searching the internet or simply by using your own comics.

The rules for this round:

* Pick one or a maximum of 3 comic panels from any Transformers comic.
* The panel must feature at least one Transformer.
* When uploading your work supply us with the comic title, issue number and page number you found the panel in and of course the panel in question.
* Entries must be at least inked, color is not needed.
* Supply speech bubbles and or text boxes containing the same text the original panel has to create the effect of it being an actual part of a comic.
* No direct copying of the original art--draw the panel in your own style and if you want to from a different angle or perspective--just use the original version as an inspiration or a script.

Entries that break any of the above mentioned rules will be disqualified.

For any questions post in this thread.

All entries will be featured at the end of the month with the winners being highlighted.

Hello, I've always wondered what would have it been like to have a third clan. Like:

Autobots

Decepticons

and my own chreation....

Chaoticons

This are bad guys, though they pursue the autobot cause. They want freedom, they think there should only be one side. Though its join or die. The leader of the chaoticons is Class. He's the classy, mean evil guy that you dont want to mess with. Can I make a comic panel about the chaoticons? I am a great artist, but I cant draw robots, so mine will be g1 ish. Thanks, do tell me if I can!

Sweet I applied has a judge (I have little to know artistic talent so I decided I want to judge) and I am now one of the three judges for this months contest. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with! :grin:

No, it has to be of an existing panel from an already existing comic. Just choose a panel from a TF comic you like and draw it in your own style.

I have several drawings of EJ Su's work from the "ation" series that I've done. They aren't at different angles or anything, but they are my own work. I'll submit them and see if they qualify.

No, the idea is to see what the panel would look like if you had drawn the comic.

curiosity begs the question: What about different designs for the characters in the panel, for example, I'm doing the panel from Marvel G1 where Buster mentally disassembles Skyfire, but as I drew I noticed my take on Skyfire looks a lot more like Classics Jetfire, same character, really... but the design's a lot different... is this ok, or do I need to keep the character designs the same?

Yes I think this will qualify. The whole point of this contest is to draw it in your own has if YOU drew the comic, so it should qualify if it is your own work. Besides, I'm only guessing on this but classics jetfire is basically g1 skyfire. Can't wait to see what you come up with! :grin:

They should qualify if they are your own work and re-create a 3 panel scene from a transformers comic that has already been mass-released. :grin:

As long as it's not Jet/Skyfieire of a different continuity like Armada or such it's OK.

We would like to remind you that the Transtopia art challenge closes tomorrow on the 16th of September, so if you do want to enter you should act fast as all entries after the 16th will be ignored.

this is from page 3 of the first issue of the Marvel comics Transformers, and the page where they receive their name. Though, no known characters were featured, I like to think the red Autobot is a young Ironhide
