I'm a very picky collector and a lot of the time there are Transformers I can't stand. Right now it's the majority of the DOTM figures. Another was the Machine Wars Optimus Prime (I couldn't get rid of it fast enough). I'm just curious as to what a lot of other collectors think of as Transformers they couldn't be paid to have?

I don't think I've seen either one of those. What do they look like? What about them drives you away?

Why something pleases (or displeases) your eyes is very hard to explain when it's not about things we learned to stay away from from an evolutionary standpoint.

I don't want to start Bayformer bashing as I feel this thread could lend itself to that but I do not like Ironhide or Starscream from this series. The worst offender to me was Nightbeat. Beautiful alt mode, one of my alltime favourite TF cars but the head ruins the bot mode. I find it strange that Skyfall/Jack and Darkwing got third party head remolds and Nightbeat didn't.

What bothers me about the G1 style bots was always 'shades' like Shrapnel and Blitzwing or faceplates like Optimus Prime. The shades to me always lends itself to the thuggish, sadistic TF's like Blitzwing and I really hate that type of character.

Prime's faceplate always bothered me. I can't explain it. One of the things I felt Bay did right was make it retractable.

This topic is already treading a very thin line into outright bashing just by existing, but I think you're pressing it just a little too hard.

Personally I wouldn't touch 98% of the Bayformers with a 100 meter cattle prod, as the aesthetic just disgusts me to no end. Nightbeat already got an updated G1 treatment in the form of a club exclusive toy with a new head, so that, combined with the fact that ROTF Nightbeat is a scout class figure, might put most 3rd party companies from even bothering.

As for faceplates and visors? Well... Soundwave has both... I'd say more, but I'm sure the coming mob will speak for itself.

I don't think I have never wanted a Transformer more than G1 Repugnus:

He looks dumb and ugly and I can't stand his stupid big flying saucer head.
I have felt this way ever since first seeing him. I always thought it was a waste
if a kid got him. Ohhh! I can't stand the look of this guy. He actually makes me mad just looking at him. :BOOM:

Shadowstream: It was never my intent to bash. I just run across so many fans that want everything no matter what, and I don't understand that. I've got some specific things about transformers that I really like and dislike. The dislike for many are such as I can't understand why the company would make such bad ones?

Windsweeper: I never saw the characters as having shades but as their eyes. The faceplates never bothered be because it always struck me as a throwback to old cartoon tough guys with the big chins.

I think it's strange so many people find so many different ones bad. I think it's funny that we as toy collectors will go nuts over something, and not care about something else. For example, I know there's a lot of people out there than like to collect all the repaints when all I can do is sit there and think why? Then there are some out there that collect all of their fave character and none other. Then there's those that hate everything, but will shell out $500 for something I'd consider a complete waste.

I'm not out to bash. I'm just out to see peoples preferences and see if there are others that feel the same as I about some of the same figures.

A few of my fave transformers still are Transmetel Megatron, Optimal Otimus and Tigerhawk. At the same time there's elements that I sit there and ask myself, "Why the ##() did they give Primal that stupid ape mode," and "Why is Magatron talking to his hand?" and, well when it comes to Tigerhawk I can't think of anything bad about him, except for the green color scheme. But these are also fun times because it's almost as if the creators are making fun of themselves.

Powermaster Jazz: I never saw a RID Scourge until a few months ago. Still have never seen one in person, but I did always want the original version of G2 prime he was based on.

JelZe GoldRabbit: I agree. It always felt sorry for that character. I kept thinking, "Gee, how's he ever going to going to make friends with the other toys. Poor thing."

Lapse Of Reason: Wow. Another I had not seen before. I see what you mean.

GuyIncognito: That's one that I came see in reflection, but I was always bothered more by the thought of, "Really, you want to blend in and that's the color scheme you use to blend in?"

Screamfleet: I can see what you mean. Most of Beast Wars left me cold.

MightyMagnus78: That ones bad. Again, another I had never seen.

DISCHARGE: I can see what you mean about that one. I've seen him a few times. One time I saw him it took six months to sell him at a flea market I used to visit.

It's funny, sometimes you want to take these toys and put them out of their misery. On the other hand, these toys make someone happy and that's good in the end.

hands down energon optimus prime. it pains me to say that, as optimus is my favorite, but c'mon. In vehicle mode hasbro, apparently, could not find any place in his bulging torso to hide his spindly arms and head, in basic robot mode he needs a 'fat cam' to appear on oprah (just check youtube for oprah fatcam if you dont get that reference- its worth your time) and in combined form he looks like a power ranger megazord. Thus he is called "zordimus prime," or alternatively "gordimus prime."

to be fair, though, his combo with energon wing saber is pretty sweet.

I really REALLY dislike movieverse Starscream even though he was cool in G1 and looks amazing in TF Prime. The Sons of Cybertron Optimus mold is disgusting as well.

mbd88prime: Never was able to get that prime, but I can see your points. One of my fave Primes (Power Master) drives me nuts. It's got a big head and little arms. I don't think those plans were very well thought out.

Dogma:I couldn't agree with you more on movieverse Starscream. I love the character, and I've even bought the TM one ROTF one, but just couldn't get any more. In some ways I regret getting them, but I keep saying to myself, "How can Megatron be without a Starscream to punch around and keep him on his toes?"

I adore ugly, the further from human the better. In fact, I can't stand the bots with human lips, teeth, noses, faces, hands, etc. Bleagh.

Movieverse Starscream. I'ts is the most disgusting and vile looking piece of Transformer GARBAGE that ever existed in my opinion. I loath it's very existence and have lamented every consecutive release of it throughout the reign of the movieverse toylines.

I can't stand his stupid little legs and MASSIVE wedge shaped torso and his hands!! soooooooo crappy!! It just boggles my meager mind as to how this design EVER got the go ahead for production on screen or as a toy.

@ DISCHARGE......Repugnus is in my top ten favourite transformers of all time. Character wise and toy wise.

Oh and Squeezeplay!!! Such an AMAZING alt mode...super ugly and he has great poseability (relatively speaking of course). Great little headmaster.

Just like "noideaforaname"...... I adore ugly aswell.

Any new versions of popular G1 characters that had to suffer from being repainted in G2. For example Sideswipe got red switched with black, red and white highlights and weapon which is a neon green launcher with a baby blue missile :BOOM:

More than 70% of this series suffered from bad repaints or new characters with bad colors for example Turbofire with hot pink + teal, some characters with car modes suffered from having translucent pink windows instead of black.(The pink windows were common sights in europe) :SICK:

The only interesting recolors in that series would Devastator, it's very interesting to see him in yellow like real life versions of the vehicles.

This is really funny, because I have really grown to like the movieverse Starscream, especially the legends class. Nebular Starscream has one of my all time favorite color schemes for him as well. Polar opposites I guess :grin:

I know I'm going to catch hell for this one, but I can't stand anything from Beast Wars. They just don't appeal to me. I'm not bashing them, I just don't like em.
