Today I received my Transformers United UN-22 Laser Optimus Prime. Immediately in the package I noticed the peg that hindered his arm movement (the peg that so many collectors simply permanently removed) was wider but considerably shorter than his Reveal the Shield counterpart. The new short and broad peg does not hinder his arm articulation like the longer, more slender peg. This isn't the first time there have been slight mold differences between a TakaraTomy Transformer and its Hasbro counterpart. Hopefully this change will show up in later produced Reveal the Shield G2 Optimus Prime figures.

Thanks to Powered Convoy of The Allspark we know that Takara's United G2 Laser Optimus Prime features a slight retool. As those of you who own Hasbro's Reveal the Shield version know there is a translucent peg over his right hand shoulder that hinders movement and articulation. Many collectors solved this problem by simply snipping it off. It appears the United version has solved this problem by making the peg shorter and wider. Check out his mirrored image below.

I didnt even notice that peg on my RTS G2 Prime until I read this article. Its good that the problem has been fixed. But the coolest poses to place the arms in were never really affected by the peg in the first place.

And yes I called him "G2 Prime" instead of "Laser Prime" because he carries a sword, not a laser.

The RTS version is out? The only RTS figures I've seen are Tracks, Jazz, Mindset, and Fallback. With Jazz and Tracks only at Walgreens and Mindset and Fallback at Walgreens and K-Mart! :BANG_HEAD:

sure is.Im not buying this Prime(one of the few I havent)and I wont buy the NP repaint unless its special.I already have the SDCC voyager repaint so no point going there again.now if it was Motormaster I might bite.

Yes along with Perceptor, Wreck-Gar, and the movie repaint of classics Bumblebee. Your best bet for finding them is Target. That's where they have been showing up the most.

Well Gundam, a lot of you in the mid-west and I'm sure on the east coast have got all of the newest TF's but in parts of the OC that wave has not reached that far yet. I've scoured at least a half dozen Targets in my area alone not to mention Walmarts and Rite-Aids and still nothin'....'nuff said!

Well the name "Wing Saber" might be making reference that his wings cut through the air like blades, thus giving meaning to his name. Energon Wing Saber transforms into a flying wing in vechicle mode.

This argument could also be made for the name "Air Razor" in reference to her falcon modes sharp claws which is a trait common on all birds of prey.

But I just cant seem to find "Laser Primes" laser or any similaraties that justify the name.

The "Laser" has more to do with the lighting features of the original G2 toy, which debuted with the "Laser Rod" subgroup. Laser Rods had sword weapons, that could be illuminated with a LED plugged into the fist. See the connection now? True, the RtS toy doesn't have that, but should they make a new version of the Hero figure, which is the first new G2 Prime mold, then what?

And I've noticed the peg problem with mine from day one, but I'm not bothered at all. Still happy it's fixed, more reason for me to pick up the United version too.

I posted in the sightings that I have found the RTS wave w/ G2 prime in Marion,IA
I also have found them in Geneseo,IL outside the Quad Cities(although Wreck-gar is gone (thanks to me.) )
