As far as I know, this is still planned for later this year. Until HasTak actually announces the rumored MP Soundwave, there'd be a market for this.

looks like Takara is going to wait with MP Soundwave a bit, and are going to repaint Starscream first. :-(

I was under the impression that an official MP Soundwave was at BEST pure speculation.

As for this guy, well, no news isn't necessarily bad news. They may be working more on the Blaster figure now so they can send both to development at the same time.

Its only been about 24 days since the last updated pictures, that doesn't scream "dead project" to me.

Even if they do a MP Soundwave.. would it be has good has this ? i can't see room for improvement.. i really want this ASAP!

Plus if this does get to the market now, it has a chance against an official product..

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the info on MP Soundwave is good, comes from the same source that told us about the last MPs starting with Rodimus.

Why would that burst my bubble? That would be the best case scenario. But until something substantial comes in, other than "some source", whoever it may be, its still speculation.

how long ago were new pictures posted you say? 24 days? where are they? and just because Hasbro is making one doens't mean that people wont buy this one too. soundwave is one of the most popular characters and i know im not the only one with a soundwave shelf.if hasbro does put one out, is it going to be a jarbled mess like that rodimus MP? and maybe the hasbro version will have a larger scaled tape deck, i want mine to fit the g1 cassettes like this one does. and then you gotta think about the cassetes they may come with also- man alls i gotta say is gimme. but yeah, where are these new pics?

So I got ahold of Fat toys corner after I noticed they were discussing selling the item, and apparently FansToys hasn't gotten back with them regarding an actual fixed price considering the exchange rate. They're estimating $180-$250 SGD ($144-$200 USD), so that might be a good idea on the price range. With that said, some of their prices do seem higher than normal, so it may end up cheaper once it hits BBTS and TFSource.

The seller plans to update me when they get any further info, so I'll pass it along here at that time if I can.

EDIT: Looks like Robotkingdom and Full Metal Hero also approached the group too. Kinda wondering if this isn't dead in the water now.

3rd party TFs tend to take years to develop. It's too soon to write this off yet.

As for the prices, $144 seems like it may be right, but for $200 I may just as well pass. What's with the 3rd parties and breaking the bank these days?

New third-party Fans Toys dropped by with some new prototype images of their upcoming Soundwave homage, FT-02 Acoustic Wave. As you can see in the images below the figure should fit in nicely on your Maserpiece shelf and sport good articulation.

My my my, I want this. Unless Takara springs an official Soundwave, which is unlikely, I will be adding this to my collection. Seeing it next to the original prototype shows just how far it has evolved and what I like what I see.

I like them both, but I think I might like the older one a little more, cause he has an ankle tilt, and he's more accurate to the cartoon since he's got less detail, I do like the slenderness of the newer one, and his mean knee articulation, but his weapons look just a little small, also like I said, less detail would be a little more show-accurate.

i absolutely agree with all three of you. i'd love it takara had produced one that looks this incredible.

i too hope it doesn't cost too too much.

anyways, soundwave wasn't always my favorite character, he was definitely one of them, but his design was definitely one of my favorites. perfect proportions, beautiful head, super kick ass accessories. and his voice in the show.. wow, one of my absolute favorite cartoon voices.

excellent work.

i just REALLY REALLY hope that he's colored to be cartoon accurate rather than toy accurate.

like with the new MP prime, his cod piece and upper thighs should be white, not grey.. but oh well, i hope they use some white on this soundwave.

The problem with white on the new design.... it might look like a diaper ala Titanium Soundwave. Grey might be better in the long run.

Yes, there will be cassettes. It will come with Laserbeak with hints at Ravage, Rumble and Frenzy.
