Got my first 3P upgrade set: UFO hands for my Revenge of the Fallen Optimus Prime! Found them at a steal.

How well do these play with the Cubex guns aa-is? Those are the upgrade I reeeally want to get for him.

Now this is a big Grimlock. Black Mamba LS05 Ancient Leader. Upsized KO of Studio Series Grimlock. Size alone is impressive but also has upgraded hands with some articulation in them, spiked maul weapon, some die-cast parts and light up eyes in both the robot head and Dino head. Official one was just too small for the scale as it had to fit in Studio Series leader class category. This is much more accurate and The Last Knight Voyager Optimus Prime finally has his steed.

I dunno. Legends be a bit too small (and cruddy looking). Maybe Deluxe. But there's no real good TF figures of knight Optimus at that size and so I'm happy with this pairing. Looks much less ridiculous than when I sat Prime on the regular size SS Grimlock.

Speaking of the movie, can this Grimlock hold the big mace in his right hand?

It's designed that it has a tab that slots into a rectangle hole in his left palm securely then his fingers go around it but his grip is strong enough that he can hold it without tabbing so yes his right hand holds it just fine too.

Ok good then that's another advantage over the official SS figure which doesn't have the mace or even a right hand. Both of which can be fixed with the DNA Design upgrade kit of course but not necessary here.

In a way I kinda wish they'd gone full WeiJiang with the upgrades (specifically with his legs so they did more to transform, thus giving him more articulate legs in both modes and more improtantly giving him proper digitigrade legs in Tyrannosaurus mode) but still, what a find. I don't generally care for OSKOs and I don't imagine I'll actually buy this, but he does look awesome.

I'm fine with the legs, even on the regular SS I quite like the extra joints in the knees that allow the lower legs to reposition somewhat behind the main knee joint (that a lot of photos show to have been ignored by whoever transformed it) and they're very strong and have to be hold up the weight of the body (particularly here with the extra size and some parts in die-cast metal). Wei Jiang do have their own attempt of the figure coming soon too and it looks alright but I prefer this one and I'm finally happy with a Studio Series Grimlock (I did buy the official one but it was the only SS figure I was very disappointed with and sold on soon after). I just woke up about half hour ago and walked into the living room having forgot I got it (brain was booting up) and I just saw this huge black shape on the shelf and was like what the hell is that and turned the light on and i was like "woah that's awesome!" as if it was the first time i've seen it. Yeah I'm weird.

Not bad not great. Joints are squeaky tight, tabs are loose,head isn't on a ball joint.

Actually really damn good (although I don't have the real deal to compare to). QC is good and the small improvements are great. Everything tabs in and works. There is some sloppy paint here and there though and the weapons feel cheap AF.

Yup, Superior except Quickslinger, all of Defensor less Rook oddly enough, Bruticus with jet Blast Off - Hasbro decos of course. Quite a few listings on AliExpress, most of the limbs are in the $8 range shipped with the torsos around $12. There are also OS Denfensor and Menasor out there as well. I have the dark navy Rook and his quality is considerably nicer (the scale feels better as well).

Open those images in a new tab and take a real close look at the tampo'd sigil.

AB is not quite right but not bad and totally worth the price. Could be good fodder for customs or just to fill in blanks. I picked him up to check the quality as I sold off the OG after I got Quickslinger. I'm thinking about a custom Eagle 1 with Air Raid.

Treated myself to a 2nd hand Unique Toys Challenger (third party masterpiece The Last Knight Optimus Prime) for £80 including postage from a chap on the TFUK sales Facebook group. Looks awesome and is so well engineered. Wouldn't think the athletic robot turns into that chunky truck. The robot pretty much turns inside out unfolding panels and such. So much of the truck is hidden inside with magic. Compared to my official (customised) hasbro Voyager Optimus Prime that clearly has truck parts hanging off his back and legs (to be fair hasbro have to limit themselves for cost and shop shelf space. Third party companies can go nuts). Been having a rough time lately so this be a nice Christmas treat to myself since I'll be on my own this year. This be my movie Prime (also love his 2007 form too}

Yeah i dunno if it'll get any others cos expense and space (I don't even know where i'm putting this one... the Studio Series figures take up the only shelf it could be displayed on because of Black Mamba version of Grimlock needed it). But that Megatron does look amazing. I wasn't sure how they could improve since the official voyager and the OS one are very good and hide the vehicle kibble way better than TLK voyager Prime but yeah the pics show Megatron looking completely kibble-free like this Prime does. These are basically huge action figure robots you wouldn't expect could transform but they do and it's sorcery...

Got the Planet X Insecticons for Christmas!


They's pretty cool. I definitely prefer them in insect mode (the robot modes are surprisingly limited in articulation) but there's no denying they look the part. I do wish they came with proper weapons though. Also Kickback's transformation is SCARY.
