I'm torn on if I like the heli-twins better as legs or arms. They give Vicky some great 80's Bea Arthur shoulder pads though. I'm not fond of the mold (even though I have two of them); Rust Dust is my favorite. Probably the color scheme and them sweet red gloves.
So now that you've played with all the things, went through all the modes; does Vicky live up to the hype?

I like both configurations, and they hold up pretty nicely both ways. I think I do prefer the helitwins as arms, even if the cars as legs have humongous knees due to the hoods. I may have to keep swipswapping.
Also:

I'll calm my own hype down, as there are obvious flaws (right pec not pegging tightly together for the combiner; the Dead End mold on Dustup opening up when in arm mode; some top heaviness with the odd Hot Spot ratchet joints; the Pyra Magna leg misassembly). But I have to calm it down intentionally.
Is it the best thing ever? No.
Is it currently my favourite thing? Yes. All of the yes. There is just so much you can do with her, and the weapons, and the swapping, and the modes, and the poses and

Haven't tried, but I'm also probably not going to - I don't have Defensor!

Well then I must buy her just so I can mess with her combined mode. Mostly because I hate her thighs.

How about using the cars as legs, and flipping up their hoods to partially cover the thighs?

Yeah, what I was thinking was flipping the thighs around so that the Pyra magna's feet and light-bars are facing forward; and making the cars the legs, flipping that car hoods up.

If the feet face forwards, I doubt you'll have decent space for the car hoods to actually sit vaguely flush. I'd try it right now, but am about to leave the house and they're all in robot mode. I'll try it in the morning!

What kinda fudging you got in mind? I don't have Vicky, but I have Defensor and Bruticus. You could move the arms up Bruticus style but they probably are meant to tab in. Probably the most flexible spot to get creative in is the legs. I have both my buy legs fully extended (in different ways) as if they were still in bot mode. Makes 'em taller but slimmer in the waist, but I saw you are already doing that with your Bruts.

Since all of the combiner wars combiners are modular, and have similar builds, I view Vicky as the autobot equivalent of Bruticus, she is a war machine. So because of that i'd like her too look less like defense because I think that look only works for defensor and more like bruticus. The only problem is I don't know of the hot spot tooling allows for a torso configuration like:

Having vicky look more like bruticus fits my AESTHETIC interpretation of combiners

Defensor is light bars out, Bruticus is stripey lines out. I will probably mimic Bruticus on Defensor.
When I get home, I'll snap a few quick pics and send ya a link or just drop 'em here.

Defensor in spindly leg mode.

I don't really like the look of this and he really cannot close his legs. Because of the ladder you have to extend the legs like this. If you try and just rotate the legs out the ladder gets in the way.
John Wayne mode, Defensor and Bruticus

Looks better on Bruts because of the codpiece, but works well and really opens up some standing poses. Nice and stable to boot. Does look just a little silly though, but I also feel the official way looks silly too.
No one asked but here is my Menasor. I had the camera out and was already fiddling with a bunch of unbalanced bots.

Huh, the lighting or my camera is really making that purple on the HFGs look weird and blue.

Ah, 90's techno. I was never into the scene, but many of the games I played were. That's not the best track from that game, but it's what I've been trying to think of.
