very serious question for collectors.

this may sound a little weird but, have you ever looked at your tf collection and thought "why did i buy these?" I did once quite a while ago when i was starting to get a decent sized collection, but now i am always willing to add to and enjoy my collection, and i also love watching G1 and beast wars in my spare time.

Hm.

I've had that thought about specific, individual figures, but not about collecting as a whole...

Collecting is more than a hobby... it's a life-time achievement. You look at it and say wow, I've done some impressive stuff to get these and yet I still need to work on it.

If you're getting pressured into stopping collecting TFs, then I'm guessing that's from family or friends. Well screw them, the only person you should ever listen to is yourself, and your spouse in the future.

I'm sure there is...now, back to topic...

As stated before, I've looked at individual figures and honestly, some I didn't buy for my collection. I bought them simply to resell for a profit to make money to buy the figure I really want at a discount. I have fun that way and it makes it a very interesting game.

I've also met some really interesting people due to this hobby, and I think about those experiences when I look at my collection. It's all in the fun of collecting.

Occasionally I've thought 'why am I, a grown man, spending so much money on toys?' and then I answer 'because they make me happy' and I shut up and chose a TF to play with. There aren't individual figures I regret buying as I research them before buying. I've made a few impulse buys which I regretted and took back the next day.

Another reason why I think collecting is a good hobby is because I spend a lot of time painting and modifying them so I get two passtimes from them!

I have no regrets or doubts about my collection. I've sold off some of my figures, though, as I'm always re-evaluating my collection and deciding what I truly want the most. I admit that I've bought a few figures on impulse, hehe.

This is how I feel. My collection is awesome. However, there are some duds that I wish I didn't buy. The money could have been used on a far better figure. Oh well. Even the worst figures have some kind of value IMO.

Once in a while there's a TF that I regret buying, or that I've paid too much, or that I've bought too much at one time. But regret the entire hobby?

No. No, it makes me happy and I like looking at my collection. No regrets here.
