Actually yeah. With Arrow, they said it was meant to be the DC Universe, but without super-powered characters.

While we are on the Justice League movie.
Wouldn't you like it if they like if WB decided to hire writers from the cartoon series with some comic book writers? I am not saying it would better than the outsiders that do usually do comic book movies (Singer, Nolan, et al). However, these characters are popular in formats outside the movie theater. I would at least like see a director try my idea.

Looks like Lex will be playing a large role along with Zod. I didn't know Lex would even be in it. Well, I figured maybe as a guy on the sidelines or be a teaser villain, but he's in that power armor, so...

1: How can you tell the size of his role based on a blurry shot lasting less than a second?
2: One of Zod's followers happens to be bald, you can see him in the background at 2:15 in the video.

I've heard nothing but good things about this film. Apparently, test screenings were very positive. Think the visual style and flash of 300 and Watchmen, with the depth and intelligence of a Christopher Nolan film. However, all the people behind it say it's nowhere near as dark or serious as a Nolan film and there's some lighthearted and funny moments throughout the picture.
More realistic, less camp, but still Superman. They way they make it sound, it's like the old saying "Christopher Reeve made you believe a man really could fly." This film apparently strives to do so more than the original film series.
They're going to make him as human as possible. I like that. He might be alien, but one of Superman's biggest weaknesses (and strengths) is his humanity.

Well that's to be expected, Superman is always much more lighthearted than Batman.

It's cool to see Superman creating some buzz again. I just can't wait for a decent Superman film for once. By the way, today is Superman's 75th anniversary.
Please note: If you think I may be joking, I probably am.

I admit, the sequels have been iffy at best, but the Richard Donner original from 1978, while campy (and it's effects severely outdated) is more than decent. It's classic cinema.
It looks fantastic on Blu-ray.

Well....let's hold the phone there for just a second. Are we talking the Richard Lester version (theatrical, everybody and their brother saw that one), the Richard Donner cut that hit DVD back in '06, or the ABC network version which has like 45 extra minutes of footage?
Me personally, Lester's cut is just stupid. Donner's is much better and far more cohesive. However, I can't blame Lester for all of it, he was only given so much to work with. The Salkinds and WB are really to blame. Donner filmed both movies back to back and was 90% completed when they pulled the rug out from under him.
It still bothers me, to this day, that we'll never get to see the true vision that was intended.

I should clarify I do like Donner's work very well. The original movie was the best, II was okay and the rest were godawful. I'd like to get the first two movies on Blu-Ray though.

You're in luck, Wal*Mart, which is where I bought it, has a BD 3-pack of Superman: The Movie, Superman II The Richard Donner Cut and Superman Returns for $9.88
5.1 and 7.1 surround on the last film, 5.1 on the first two. And they look fantastic.

That's the 1 I picked out as well. I will admit, the Donner version of II is really good, it's my favorite. The 1st film was really good as well, but I just prefer the 2nd. And honestly, I didn't have big problems with Superman Returns. I actually liked Kevin Spacey as Luthor. But I'm also not a hardcore fan. I just like the movies. I did have some of the comics when I was younger, but now the only print I have him in is his guest appearance in Batman: Death in the Family.
As for this new film, at 1st I wasn't really excited about it. However, it was the casting of Kevin Costner and Russell Crowe that got me into it. And Diane Lane, who I think is still more beautiful than most of the young movie "stars" in Hollywood. The only thing I still have to get myself past is the fact that he will have blue tights instead of red. But that's a minor detail

Well...his tights were always blue. Now, if you mean his super-briefs, I didn't even notice that until someone pointed it out to me. My problem is that the suit is too dark, it makes him look wet in some shots. Other than that, I don't really have a problem, and I really dig the detailing.

Yeah, I meant his briefs. And I agree with suit being too dark. Even the S on the chest is kinda weird. But whatever. I got past bat-nipples 15 years ago, this won't be a problem. Looking forward to it, actually.
Will it be yet another take on the origin, since Jor-El is in it, or some sort of sequel? I would love to see Krypton and its destruction with the effects technology of today.
