It isn't just American, it is European too.

I don't know. I can tell you that my parents asked me before they got rid of my toys.

My parents didn't do anything with my stuff (American) unless I left it behind when I moved in with my then-fiance (now-wife). I had specific instructions for my Tub O' Transformers, though.

I had the same problem, but I had help finding it with the "No money to eat starvation diet" it worked wonders :P

J/K, althought I did lose 90 lbs when my wife and I went on Weight Watchers on-line.

Back to the topic: I lost G1 Streetwise's hood piece way back in the late 80's, at my parents old house, and it never did turn up.
Check out my sales thread, plenty of Generations, and Reveal the Shield figures for sale!!

Not just an american thing. I remenber my father telling me that his mother gave away all his comics ( First issue of Spiderman + many others that are now highly collectable ). needless to say he was very annoyed!!

Yup. My vehicle is completely empty. Searched every square inch of my condo. Nothing. Surely nobody would have stolen it. (It was a protoform, after all.)

It's no big loss, especially compared to a lot of the stories in this thread. It's just frustrating. Sorry to bring up such a sad topic, everyone!
For the love of Primus, why must I be a Mississippi State fan?

I haven't lost a whole figure, although I do know my Dad got rid of my G1 Skids behind my back. I miss my Skids.

I HAVE lost parts of Transformers. The missles from my Energon Starscream and a energon chip are some of the most annoying.

Hmm, maybe when you payed for it, the cashier missed when trying to put it in the bag. Or what if it fell out of the bag and was left in the basket on the way to the car? I've had those things happen a cpl times to me.
