Ok, I have confused myself.

1). Is the IDW Beast Wars series connected to any of the Universe or Wreckers comics?

2) Is the IDW Beast Wars series connected to the other series that IDW has going (Stormbringer, infiltration, escalation, etc), ie same continuity?

3) Is our G1 cartoon connected to the new IDW series' ? ( I don't think it is, but who the heck knows)

The reason i ask is because The Gathering obviously is connected to the beast wars cartoon, which in turn was connected to G1. But the 20+ year old G1 universe is quite different in story/origins then the IDW series is (escalation, infiltration, etc), so this has me quite confuzzled.

Seeing Grimlock in Spotlight Shockwave and then seeing him in The Gathering made me start thinking about this.

It's connected to the show, "The Gathering" starting shortly after "Changing of the Guard."

Yes. Infiltration led to Stormbringer, which led to Escalation, which will lead to Devastation, which will lead to Revelation, and in which the Spotlights are liberally sprinkled.

No.

You have confused me even more.

If IDW Beast Wars (The gathering, the ascending) is connected (same continuity) as escalation, infiltration, wouldn't that mean it's connected to the G1 series as well, since "Changing of the Guard" was Beast Wars, which was connected to G1.

Unless only a few aspects are being borrowed from each story, ie, Beast Wars cartoon, sure they found the ark and prime and megatron etc, but perhaps that's all they took from that continuity.

I guess another way of asking it is..

Is The Gathering/The Ascending a future time line, but same continuity, as Infiltration, Escalation, Spotlights, etc?

If so, I am really confused as to how they can include the Beast Wars cartoon story into this universe,sine the beast wars cartoon pulled many elements from the 80's cartoon. It would mean everything is linked!

Heck, since Beast machines characters made an appearance in Wreckers comics, and Beast machines was the same continuity as Beast Wars, then you could say the Wreckers (primal prime's) are in this continuity as well, just in the future)

The G1 series are NOT connected to the Beast Wars series. The IDW G1 series is to Transformers what the Ultimate series are to Marvel Superheros: a complete, total, 100% reboot, not connected to any previous canon.

No. Infiltration/Escalation/Devastation/Revelation/Spotlights are seperate from Gathering/Ascending.

Ok, that's better. I shall treat IDW BW and IDW "G1" as separate continuities, that's much easier on the brain.
