Anyway I reccomend trying Sketchup if you couldn't get the hang of a 3D package in the past.

My first 3D model Transformer - Buzzsaw.

So - after discovering Google sketchup and getting the hang of it while making a scale model of my flat and garden I wanted to try making my first Tf - I basically copied the toy as closely as I could (except the head - my buzzsaw's decapitated). Once I've made his boosters and recoloured him as Laserbeak to go together in a pic I'll have to try doing something really tricky - *Something With Curves In*!!!!

Right, I think that's this model finished with..
I might do the tape brothers at some point but that head was really just me messing about. I've got some other ideas to try first.

I'm curious. What can you export sketchup files as? I was thinking if you wanted I could do some good lighting renders on them if they can be exported into something my programs support.

The free version I'm using basically can't http://sketchup.google.com/gsu6/exporters.html but there are some plugins that work with the free version that I may try out (RPS Ray trace exporter) - http://www.sketchup.com/?sid=37

Yeah that raytrace looks like it would do a pretty nice render. Can't wait to see how it works.

That truly kicks arse! I tried SketchUp once, but didn't find it quite as intuitive as they'd had me believe; it kept stretching things I didn't want stretching, and not letting me select the bits I wanted. Nice to see it can be used with practice.
