This lad's got plenty of articulation in all forms, and I actually like the little pistol. There's no rule to say Prime has to have a big rifle, and with all the other guns he carries in his various forms (twin double-barrelled blasters, grenade racks, four-stage missile launcher etc), I think the pistol works just fine - if you have to, picture it as a Noisy Cricket!
RID Optimus Prime. Thoughts please?

Definitely one of my favourite Prime figs, along with Classics Voyager and Cybertron. I'd have trouble picking between them, since they're all great in their own ways.

Just not for more than $45 per figure.
congratulations you've mastered this!!!

I do think however, this is my favorite position.. which I once had on my shelf for about 3 months before I had to place all them in storage..

RID Prime is of two of my only RID figures (I have Scourge too). RID Prime is awesome. The small mode and super mode are like two entirely different bots, with the smaller bot looking more like G1 Prime.
The alt mode is a very cool looking fire truck. Great sounds too.
My only complaints are that 1) It seperates into pieces instead of being one complete figure and 2) in alt mode, those pieces come apart easily, making it not a good fire truck to push around and play with.
Great for adults and TF collectors, but a source of frustration for kids and adults who like to play with their Transformers.

He's a shelf piece in my opinion. He looks good, but is not much worth playing with. In supermode, his top heavy design makes him difficult to pose well, and his pauldrons don't really attach that securely. My bigger complaint is his truck mode - the front and back halves on mine don't hang together well at all. His trailer's base mode looks like a pile of spare parts to me.
Omega Prime is similarly a just-for-looks figure.
Ultra Magnus is pretty fun though, even just in truck mode.

Yeah the wheels to split, I think two on my Prime have spilt and I lost one of them. None of the other RID figures with rubber tires I have split only Prime.
As for Magnus the chrome-like paint comes off easy...

Actually neither Magnus nor Prime have suffered from split tires. They have gotten a little loose, but they are still one piece of nice soft rubbery plastic.
As for the Chrome, yeah mine as you can see from the pics is suffering massive flaking from the bumper/chest.

I highly recomend the Fire God sword, it's expensive, but in the long run, it's a worthy piece to own..especailly for the positions...ohhhh the positions!!!
but overall buy him!! he's a nice figure.. one of the best primes ever made..

oh and if you get the chance get this guy too!!

Yeah. This Prime & Magnus are fun figures, though Magnus is more of a big add on, but essential nonetheless. Its the main toy that got me interested in TFs back 7 years ago. While I tend to collect BTs & MPs nowadays, this was really cool back then. And love how they have pegs all over so you can figure out your own way to attach various parts on the combined Omega Prime to make him cooler. A huge fun piece, if not a bit too plasticy & colorful.

I never felt RID Prime was very good incarnation of the character of Prime for me, but he is a great robot none-the-less. I liked him so much I grabbed a spare of him for kitbashing
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you to Overcracker for posting the comparison shots of RID and Classics Magnus.
A thousand blessings be upon your house!!!!
I've been wondering if he would work in my Classics display, as a more fitting UM than "naked white prime" Magnus and I love the scale and look of the figure in both modes. I liked him in the galleries here, but I didn't know what his scale would be.
He's SOOOOO getting added to my searches on the 'bay.

I got him, but was annoyed by his weak connections. Looks impressive just standing there. And he's fun to transform. But he's not very posable.
And Omega Prime's shoulders are not quite at shoulder length. The bot mode disguises their real position. It kinda bugged me.

It was my pleasure.
And I always though he'd work well as an Ultra Magnus. Having the armor and all that. Although I never could decide how to explain the huge ladder on his back.
Now that I think about it: If you're kitbashing it, I would guess you could just remove the entire ladder part, or
convert it into a removable car carrier section for him.

Definitely get RID Prime and Magnus.
The only quarm I have is with Magnus' legs. They're incredibly long, and he has a very small body. The legs are too....thin.
Can anyone get a profile shot of him?
(I misplaced my camera somewhere in my apartment
)
Also, where can I get that sword? Non-Ebay please.

That's a Fortress Maximus Sword, outfitted with a new hilt so Omega Prime can hold it. The sword came with the Japanese Fortress Maximus, Grand Maximus, and the TRU Japan exclusive God Fire Convoy giftset, with that new hilt.
We never got the sword in any of its incarnations, possibly because Hasbro deems it too dangerous, but replicas are being made...
Dang, now I really want one!
