Wildfires
So, um yeah San Diego is burning all around. Its crazy out here, the city is almost shutdown from people not being able to go to work and being evacuated.
Those of you that have been here know how nice of an area it can be. Those that haven't been here should try to come out sometime when we aren't engulfed in flames and choked out on smoke.
Later.

That really, really sucks! I hope your house doesn't become threatened. In my family we've personally lost two properties to fire.

They are a few miles from us, but I'm far enough into the city that it won't be an issue. Just alot of smoke and ash.

Orange County's burning as well. As the fire could very well veer in my direction, I've already packed up the Autobots and am moving onto the Decepticons. If I have to evac, I want to make sure that I actually can get the TFs out of the house as swiftly as possible.

I was driving down from L.A. yesterday and saw the one north of irvine off of the 5, its was smoky and very windy, could see the flames from the freeway.

Coming from somewhere where bushfires are rampant for 6 months of the year, I hope that the Good Californian Firies can get the blazes under control.
Fires are on a bit later than usual though, it's about now we "borrow" some of the Californian Firefighters Water Carriers.

It almost 4 years to the day that our last big fire happened.

Sounds about right, Sydney is about the same, every 4-6 years the whole city is surrounded by fires, but with the drought its shrunk down to every 18 months-2 years now.
But if anyone has the resources and manpower to put on a blaze as big as the one you have right now it's your West Coast Firies, they do a top notch job, and always do well at the Firefighter games.

So far La Jolla is safe for now. Mira Mesa was in a threatened area but nothing is burning that far south and west yet. If you know any one in Poway, Rancho Bernardo, and Fallbrook they should have been evacuaded since those are the major areas that are on fire. The fires are currently North, East and West of where I live.

I work on Mira Mesa, we didnt get evacuated but so many people I work with weren't able to come in that we shut down for the day and most likely tomorrow. Only good thing to come of this "paid day off"

Yeah the Mira Mesa area was under threat due to the fire getting close to Scripps Ranch. Nothing burning just really poor air quality. We started evacuating the aircraft off of Miramar. So those of us in the threatened areas were sent home to pack and get ready to leave. I got home just before they shut down the I-15.

Yeah, he's a well known local reporter. He got to watch it burn to the ground.
