Quantum Leap
- Weapon: Diffraction Sword
I loved Quantum Leap as a child. Anybody else miss this great show? With the revival of so many popular 80s shows and movies, who else would love to see Quantum Leap on the big screen?

It was a pretty good show, it was more or less a look at American history thorugh the eyes of different people. As I recall, I don't think Sam ever went way back in time, it was usually 40s–70s etc. I always liked how at the end of each episode, he would leap into someone at the worst possible time.

I believe his last response in each episode when he looked into a mirror was "Oh boy" if memory serves correctly ?

"Oh boy" did indeed finish off the show, though I think there was one ep where something else was said, but I can't remember.
Brilliant show, one of the best tv shows ever I feel.
But a big screen version? No. Absoloutely not. The series was perfectly ended. I would not want that to be changed in any way whatsoever.

That was because he could only leap into times within his own lifetime.
I thought they were going to try to revive the series for a little while. Both principal actors were behind it. I wonder what happened there. At any rate, I think they had paperbacks and comic books based on it as recently as early this decade.

In a Galaxy Far Far Awry issue 1: Serial Fiction Sideshow now for sale.
Issue 2: Home Sweet Home Invasion also for sale.
Back issue 3: Technophobia coming soon. And you can help!

Re: Quantum Leap
There was a point where he and Al switched places, which sent Al back a little further, but that's about it.
Quantum Leap was an awesome series, but I'm not sure how well it would be handled nowadays. I'd heard rumours of a reunion movie a couple years back, but nothing ever came of it (except Dean Stockwell guest starring in an Enterprise episode).

Fantastic show, never lost a thing in its run, altho the "evil leaper" storyline was kinda weak. And the last episode was brilliant- quite powerful and touching. While it did imply that Sam just keep on leaping, I don't think a movie would do it justice.

There was a Civil War era episode, too. Sam leaped into his great-great-grandfather.

Re: Quantum Leap
The "Oh Boy" tag line really didn't start with consistency until somewhere in the second season... or the beginning of the third.
Damn fine show. The very end was a heavy, emotional sucker punch!

I hated the last episode. It just felt so loose ended.
Saying that, I adore the series and have series 1-4 on DVD.

It's safe to assume that I'm just taking the piss.

Man, it's been so long since I've watched it. I sort of remembered that, but wasn't sure. The Space Channel used to show it practically every day for a while there, but that was something like four years ago.
I'm really starting to miss it. Robotech just doesn't cut it for classic SF shows.

I hated how they ended the show
All they had to do was to have Sam leap back to his own body
But no.....

I loved how it ended. It was emotional, (heck I still cry when I watch it) and gave Sam a great send off.
Not sure about anyone else but I assume he kept on leaping under the power of God and he's still out there doing good.
Whereas if he'd returned home, well that just left things open for them to continue (and no doubt screw up) the series years later.

I always got the impression from the last episode that he was responsible for leaping himself around and God was just "rooting" for him.

Missing the final season? I can't say much, I only got the first season. I read about how the later seasons didn't feature the original music cues aired on TV because of rights issues. That kind of miffed me, I guess, so I decided to wait for Universal to pay out the royalties and release the episodes as they aired. It sounds anal, but music is a pretty big thing, especially in a TV show about time travel. The Season 2 ending episode, and the finale, when Sam could have helped Al's ex-wife (was it Lisa? I forget), they cut out the song "Georgia On My Mind." I mean, WTF.

He did leap into himself in that episode, twice if you count the last scene. Well, that's what I had thought happened...

I heard there was supposed to be a TV movie a year or two after the finale which would have wrapped that up. I've read different stories about why it got canned, but never a definitive answer.

I don't think he died. I guess it's how each person interprets it.
But to me, the fact his body disappeared from the chamber means he leapt into his real body and to me, because he "never returned home", I took as him still leaping around in his own body still helping others.
Like I said, open to interpretation but to me it was ended on a good note. I can see how others would like it finalised though.
