Any Microsoft products you recommend?
Going ou tto see my bro in about 2 weeks, and since he works for Microsoft, it means he can get any products for about 75% off. What Microsoft products/programs would you recommend? I am thinking about getting Word 2007 and Vista...

I do not know what word processing program you currently use.. If you are currently using the older version of Word, expect a learning curve because there are things on Word 2007 that will not make sense at first. For instance, all of the drop windows behave differently than they used to. Also, if you regularly type papers, like I do, you have to know what version of Word or Works that another person has if you are sending attachments in e-mails.
In terms of Vista, I do not have experience with this one.
On my computer...I have the entire Microsoft Office Suite plus SharePoint Designer, which replaces Frontpage for website design purposes.

To be honest I wouldn't recommend anything, you can find free alternatives to most if not all windows products, like Open Office instead of Word and all those windows office products.
And I wouldn't bother with Vista yet, it has the makings of a good OS, but I would wait till Microsoft work some of the bugs and kinks out, not to mention compatibility issues.
But really its your money, so its really up to you.

An Xbox 360?
I'd avoid Vista for the time being.

I second that. I have it on both my computer and this laptop and it slows everything down like hell. Don't like it at all.
If you can, stay with XP. Vista has too many little things about it which annoy me.

I lent my copy of Freelancer to a friend of mine. It might have been Tweezy. I'll beat him up and get it back.

They did say they would stop support at the end of 2009, but they have extended that till about 2012, and they are going to soon release XP SP3, though i believe it doesn't contain too much.

There was a time I'd have recommended Word, but it's broken down so many times since.
There was a time I'd have recommended IE, but then Firefox came around.
So I wouldn't really recommend any, but it's almost like you have to use them nowadays. The new Word is okay, but it's missing the version option, which I got a lot of use out of (and it doesn't really make sense to get rid of it). They also made it so I can't use the All Windows Under One Tab option (whatever they called it). It's there, but it's disabled and I can't enable it.
Other than that, Microsoft is just there. For what it's worth, though, IMHO Excel is better than Open Office. But I'm no Open Office expert.

And it has no support. And if you're a PC gamer, the library is extremely limited, since a lot of games won't run on Windows 98.
In any case, they've released Service Pack 1 for Vista. I haven't really noticed any changes, but things seem to go a bit smoother.
