Idea's for Classics Ironhide
I've been thinking about doing Classics Ironhide as my next bash... so far, I have a couple ideas involving Classic Voyager Prime... any one on here got any suggestions? My current thoughts are taking Prime, swap out the head, repaint it and scratchbuild parts to turn it into a U-haul type box truck.. specifically, any idea on what I should use for the head???

really not to sure on this one on First thoughts due to the prime Voyager i was thinking the other day on what to use to make ironhide and i dont wanna use the One everyone else has used either done and done enough times either by members like tramp or bot con.
i myself if i did the head for ironhide would just make one easier in the long run then taking heads off other figures as i found out in the past.
You would have to make the Rear section either way if you did this. And redo the legs a little so there is slight changes to the original prime.
If you dont wanna make a head use plumbers mate and cut down the top and a few areas and take build up the face on the mouth plate.

Yeah... If I do this I plan to shave off the kneepads at least... And yeah.. didn't just wanna do what some one else had already done. Plus, IMO the mistransformed prime makes for a nice burly barrel chested looking bot, which is perfect for ol Tex. And Plus Classic Prime is on clearance at Target for only $10

Never thought of using Prime for an Ironhide. Making him a box van, would even give you his battle sled. Good ideas you've got, all the way around.
No idea what to use for the head. I would advise against having vents on the helmet. Especially low side vents. It would make him look too much like Skids or Perceptor. As I recall, cartoon Ironhide had no venting on his helmet.
I'm just going to repaint a movie Ironhide. I was thinking about using a Roadbots H3, but decided that would work better for Brawn.

Interesting idea, and I can see how that could work.
One thought, if you do make the box part (which presumably, could be detachable, as GR says, to make some sort of battle platform), you could incorporate the smokestacks into that (or make new ones) and have him use the wind vane as his main weapon to help differentiate him from Prime.

Actually, I had though about cutting the smokestacks off and mounting three to four tiny tubes to suggest the multi-purpose weapons mounted on his wrist. As for the windvane... the current idea I have basically scrapes the windvane, the detachable box having a lip that comes over the cab thus covering the head. kinda like this

As for his primary weapon(s) I'm thinking two BFG's
..just noticed i left the windvane on in the digibash. D'oh!

hmmmm.. just a thought.. If I do this, I can leave the windvain on, and modify it to blend into the box section... I'd want to change the design of it though...
