Howdy.
I don't know if this has been covered already or not, but I've recently been purchasing a few Energon and Cybertron figures, with plans to intentions to kitbash a custom or 2 out of what I collect (in particular, General (Autobahn) Lee from Downshift & Big Daddy parts, and Cardiac from Red Alert/Crankcase/Cannonball).
Anyway, when planning these two, as well as other future customs based on Unicron Trilogy-era TFs, I often find myself thinking of what possible Mini-Con partners they could have -- not from repainted/bashed Minis, but from exitsting Has/Tak repaints. In many cases, the prinicipal characters already have Mini-Cons, or could be paired with some version of their original partner (such as Excellion/Hot Shot/CD Hot Shot partnering with Armada or Cybertron Jolt, or Energon "rebuilt" Demolisher pairing with KB 'original' Demo's Blackout.)

My question is, can y'all imagine a pairing of a new character (either original, or existing post-Armada TF) with a latter-year repaint or retooled Mini-Con? What new name would you come up with for your 'Bot's Mini-Con?

There are currently about 360 to chose from. Well over half of those would be eligible.

I had him in mind when I first came up with the name; I came up with my Cardiac in 1994 as an idea for a G1-era Autobot with human medical expertise. As better vehicle modes came about, he and "Prowl clone" Urbaneise, my Autobot interceptor simply evolved. (Currently, Urbaneise will either be based off of the RiD Prowl or the new Classics one).

Here are my (current) personal answers to my own question:

General Autobahn Lee - Hangtime (Classics Oil Slick with purple flames removed and Reprolabels' General Lee decals added.)
Cardiac - Pitboss (Liftor from Universe Smokescreen) or Speed Trap (Universe Mini-Con Prowl); I can't decide
Sky-Byte (Energon's Sharkticon) - Sunstroke (Armada Sea Team Oceanglide, blue repaint.) or Harpoon (Armada repaint Stormcloud)
Movie Crankcase - Windsweeper (Cybertron Mini-Con Thrust) or Gunbarrel (Universe Gunbarrel or the blue Effect repaint)
Mach Alert (Energon's Prowl) - Cybertron Checkpoint (an Armada Mini-Con Prowl repaint)
(Universe) Downshift - Powerdasher (Wal-Mart Cybertron Mini-Con Downshift)
Wheeljack (Energon Downshift or Superlink Wheeljack) - Shockblast (Cybertron Quickmix's Stripmine or Universe Heavy Load's Drill Bit) or (Energon) Astroscope
Cannonball - Dreadwing (Classics Dreadwing) or Harpoon (see Sky-Byte entry above)
