I'm a big fan of the Kabaya Gum Transformers. They can be a little frustrating, but overall are generally fun, and also a little different from what we normally get.

Even though they've been out for a while now, I finally got around to putting together the Kabaya Seacons. Time for a little pictorial review!

The Unboxening

Like most Kayaba releases, 1 box = 8 figures. In this particular case I got a full set and doubles of 1 & 2.

Turtler (aka Snaptrap, better use the Japanese names or else Sabrblade will be in here correcting me) was the first to be put together. I was surprised to have him assembled in three steps as previous Kabaya figures often take longer. Not only that, working out the where the stickers went was also a lot easier. Of course like most Kabaya figures, getting the face stickers on can be an absolute nightmare. Not so much for Turtler as his head was a little larger.

Transformation from alto to robot involves removing the back legs and attaching them to his back. His robot legs are also removed and sides reversed. Arms and head then flip down and he's done!

Overbite was the first of the limbs to be built. He was quite simple in that he only took two steps to assemble.

Perhaps the biggest sticker in Kabaya models and it's one hell of an ugly face!

Overall this was a great set. As you would expect from a Kabaya set articulation is lacking, which normally isn't a problem until you combine them. Because Tentakils tentacles are locked in, you have to turn him for him to fit properly as a leg.

One thing I liked about combining them was they used a simple peg system. Unlike the G1 system (which used their heads and often caused breakages) and the current CW system (which is a definite improvement), this one is simplistic. You're not going to put these figures into elaborate poses, so the peg works perfectly.

Time consuming, but a lot simpler than previous Kabaya kits. If you don't mind putting things together and you don't mind figures that have little to no articulation and you need to do some minor disassembly to transform them, and if you're a fan of the Seacons, then I definitely recommend this set.
