In a press release received from IDW Publishing, information has been made available in regards to a special celebration of Archie's 75th anniversary. Coming in December, several IDW publications will feature special variant covers featuring Archie characters, including The Transformers #48. Slew Of IDW/Archie Crossover Covers Coming This December

San Diego, CA (September 10, 2015) – Archie Comics, the acclaimed and bestselling comic book publisher that is home to some of the best-known pop culture creations in the world, including Archie, Jughead, Betty & Veronica, Josie & The Pussycats, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and the hit AFTERLIFE WITH ARCHIE and CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA horror series, is marking their 75th anniversary in 2016. And to help ring in this monumental occasion, IDW Publishing is celebrating their publishing partner in the form of Archie tribute covers throughout the month of December. Eight different IDW titles will feature variant Archie tribute covers, many of which are illustrated by fan-favorite Archie artists.

I read Archie all the time when I was a kid. Nice that it's still around. But didn't they 'kill' him in one issue, having him take a bullet for some social issue or other? Well, I suppose death in comic books is hardly permanent.

Transformers has hit the big time now. I gotta say the Archie I used to read, I don't remember Betty and Veronica looking like that!

Archie has been experincing a bit of a revival lately.

Archie Comics was recently rebooted with "modern" versions and storylines for the main cast (kind of giving it a teenage Soap Opera feel):
