I suspect this is your plan to turn EVERYTHING red and yellow, Rodimus. I sense a Red and Yellow Rodimus Conspiracy.
Armada Screamer was odd: I think in the US his figure was actually Thundercracker--like a dutch blue. Then later came the red and yellow. Then there was a Sam's Club exclusive. But the red in those two wasn't a true red or an orangey red, more like an oxbloody color. (Why yes, I do have all three of them. I like pressing their bellies in unison like some sort of freaky chorus).
I liked G1 Screamer's coloring--in most of the toys, though, he was a slightly different shade of red and blue than Optimus, if I recall. More French flag colors than US. (Insert French joke here). The only way to really test your scenario would be to have someone competent (id est, NOT me) take a G1 figure (or reissue mold) and paint it. And then, Armada-red, which isn't bright red, or bright fire engine red?
I think he'd look kind of odd, but it would grow on me. All of the original Seekers had some blue in their coloring and this would take away from that 'unity', but if he's the 'leader' of the Seekers, it would make sense if he stood out all flashy like that. I mean, if Bay's Starscream grew on me, I'll accept anything.
Armada was a cool *mold*. I think anything other than hot pink and acid green would have looked good on that. G1 molds were a little...clumsier. Color mattered more.
HK, OMG, I don't have any of my Armada boys here at work?!?! This must be addressed!
