Deluxe Brawl or should I hold out for Leader Class?
barring the release of 08 bumblebee, this really is the only movie figure I'm trying to decide over. I'm certainly not going to get both, and then I've heard about the deluxe's arm problem, but I also have a few hangups about buying the Leader Class version because Leader class used to be for LEADERS, so it kinda feels like I'm just buying into some sort of scheme on Hasbro's part.

I own the Deluxe and I think it's a good figure. (I'd have said great, but the shoulders are a pure pain to work with at first.)
That said, I'm still going to buy the Leader Class figure. Something about his character, his alt mode screams "HE NEEDS A LEADER CLASS FIGURE!"

Yer the Deluxe one if a good figure. Considering Leader Class is a fairly large figure, it might have some technical problems.

Id get the Deluxe.
From the (very) few images I have seen of the Leader Class figure, he does not all that much different, or technically better than the Deluxe version.
I'm confident the leader class figure will not have the same arm/shoulder issues as the smaller deluxe figure, but seeing as how easily the shoulder issue can be remedied, its not that big of a deal.
I guess it really comes to how much you like the character, to whether you want to buy the deluxe version, or pay about four times as much for the leader class figure.

Yer, the leader class is basically just a big sized version of the Deluxe. And Usually when I have $50+ Australian, I go and by something else rather than a toy, maybe a game or so. The most I ever spend is $50 on a toy.

I nearly bought Deluxe Brawl in Argos (£7.49) last night but decided to wait for the Leader. I like the idea of a MASSIVE tank and tanks should be massive.

I kind of understand your situation. I have deluxe sitting in my car's trunk... He's been there since the toys first came out and I've been pondering if I should take him back and wait for leader class or not.
I mostly wanted leader class because I have MP Optimus so I'd like my autobots and decepticons to be more balanced, but then again I'm thinking I'd rather spend $40-50 more and get MP Megs and be truly balanced.
So depends on 1) How much do you like the character. 2) How much do you like each Transformer, mind you from what I've seen ; and correct me if I'm wrong, the cannon is on the arm of deluxe brawl while it appears to be on the side torso of leader, 3) How will he function in your collection?
Thats how I'm basing most of my purchasing decisions.

Hasbro should definately have a leader class Brawl as well as a Blackout(it cracks me up how on the back of his voyager box, it states that he is "the LARGEST Decepticon").
In the movie Brawl and Blackout are both huge and should, at least in toy terms, be about the size of Megatron and Prime laeder figures.
For that matter, how's this for Decepticons:
Leader class: Starscream, Blackout, Brawl, Bonecrusher
The Autobot movie toys are pretty much proper scale....the Decepticons, however, not so much...

Neither.
Get the FAB; he's notably superior in terms of paint apps and general kickassness. He's over an inch taller than the Deluxe, still quite small, but if you pick up FAB 'Hide who I personally believe to be the superior version too, it might not look so bad.

Get the FAB, and if you decide you want it, get the Leader later too. The FAB is also more different to the Leader than the Deluxe is, keep in mind, so you'll have too different versions rather than two different sizes.
Brawl should just have been a Voyager, IMO. Makes a lot more sense, best trade off between size accurate(tanks fit in very large in a voyager box) and price since he's not a well loved character(barely appears in the movie).

Wait for the Leader class figure.
Having a Decepticon police car that is bigger than an M-1 Abrams tank just doesn't look (or feel) right at all. At least the Leader toy is in scale with the other figures (except Blackout and Starscream)

Thats exactly how I feel. I have the deluxe and had I known they were making the leader I wouldn't have got him.

Well, IMO Brawl was THE coolest Decepticon of the movie (along with Black-Out)... I passed on ALL movies toys and opted for deluxe Brawl... The best Tank TF ever. Sure his shoulder pegs suck but that can be fixed easily... I plan on getting the Leader Brawl as well since he is the most kick ass tank ever.
He will probably be the ONLY Tanks in my collect as his design color and realism beats the hell out of those crappy ass Megatrons tanks...

Leader Brawl, might end up being the only one in my collection from the movie. So yeah, I love him. Definintly earned more on-air time.

problem
the only prob is that if hasbro made them 2 scale then people wouldn't buy as many because there $40 a pop it would be nice but the only other leader i see from the movie line is going to be brawl

“Ching-a-ling. Come out and get your ice cream. Any bad robot out there better get ready for an ass whoopin’.”
