One of a kind Black Friday sale? I walk into Toys R Us to check out sales and spotted this in the TF section:

There was even another guy standing there puzzled at the price. My past jobs in retail told me that this was a jackpot, the store has to honor it if their own smurfs misprice something. Took it to the register, back and forth with the manager, winner.

So is he worth opening?? Should i sell?? haha i'm still laughing at about it

The tag was for a different product but an employee lined them up on the shelf like that. The manager ripped the tag off and wouldn't let the other guy buy it haha :lol:

Its not a mistake. look at the photos, the price is for the alt modes, its even written. The store didnt look into it well enough because there is technically nothing to honour. We couldnt get away with it here in quebec. This was just an item placed over a wrong price tag. It really surprised me that the manger didnt look into that and check that the price tag was for the right product.

OK here's the science of how this worked... a retailer has to honor displayed price. But there are certain times when they can honor or deny.

If i had grabbed one and asked the nearest person the price, they could then say "oops no not $6.99"... But i took it to the register and waited until she read the total to bring up the price. Once it hits that scanner, the manager is backed into a corner, i gave him no other option. He knew he was giving me a crazy discount and he wasn't happy lol

To be honest, i do this all the time because people just don't care about their jobs in retail. I've bought most of my current TFs this way (not this big of a discount tho :lol), a lazy employee will fill a scout class peg with $20 titans returns figures. put over stock fort maxes above a voyager class sticker... employees just aren't paying attention.

But even then, it's not supposed to be. Because anyone can go and swap things around to get "discounts". If the price that is wrong was IDENTIFIED as the RIGHT product, EG "MP-Bee:6.99$" but it scan at the right 100$, THEN the store would have to honor the 6.99$ price. And if you were in Quebec, by law the thing would have been the lowest price minus 10$. Meaning a FREE Bee.

But here, it was a case of misplacement. Something that happen everywhere, all the time, because customers themselves just dont give a fok.

So, when you made your claim, the manager should have just given you a mean look, telling you "Nice try, kid."
But he didnt for some weird reason.

The manager isn't an idiot for giving him the price, he was just trying to avoid a customer confrontation from someone who was clearly giving him problems from the beginning. The item being at the register makes zero difference, they easily could've said that it was a mistake and that a customer could've moved them and not honoured the price. I used to be a manager in a retail store and I would use this all the time. But when you explain that to someone and they still put up an argument about it then it just becomes easier to do whatever they're b|tching about than to risk getting a complaint from corporate. That's obviously what happened here and what makes it worse is you said you have retail experience so you know how sh|tty it is to deal with those customers yet you claim to do it all the time. You should be more ashamed of yourself than proud.

I never i said i didn't like it when i was in retail (if you dont use what you learned from previous jobs, then whats the point?). and i didnt give them a hard time, the manager knew his store got caught red handed and honored it as soon as he saw the shelf. the store had just opened and a whole shipment of mp bb was perfectly aligned(by some employee) above "$6.99"... there was nothing he could say in his defense, his store opened like that. He even cursed and knew "which idiot" probably did it lol

If it makes you feel better, i thanked him and we laughed about it when I left. If you think this retail story is bad, i should tell you my other ones!

Did you tell the manager the price tag was for another toy? If not then you are still acting in illicit fashion since you knowingly asked for a price match that was unwarranted under any law. There is no difference between this happening and it having happened if you purposefully placed an item where it didn't belong.

You are confessing to some very questionable tactics. If you do not like how a store operates, either tell them or stop shopping there. It is not up to you to teach them a lesson by punishing them of revenue. Just because you get away with it does not make it ok. This behaviour being promoted in this thread goes against the site rules that you agreed to uphold when signing up for this site since it dips into illicit and fraudulent behaviour.

Root of the issue is, was MP BB "tagged" right on the box? If that is the case, claborn is as innocent as a baby. The mistake is with the store. If the tag was corrected, well, claborn was just lucky.

I don't see how that is the "root of the issue" at all.

He wasn't "lucky" in any way other than in getting the manager to go along with his chicanery. He knew before he went to the counter the price was wrong and he campaigned to get the toy for the price that was there (6.99). He even admitted to running this kind of game "all the time". Then he came on here to brag out it. Then several people cheered him on for it. 8-|

Bending the manager over the counter for a technicality is hardly "lucky", and he is hardly "innocent".

No, it was theft.

The 6.99$ label CLEARLY stated that it was for SOMETHING ELSE. By that logic, I could take Fortmax, put it above a candy bar price tag, and have a Fortmax for 1$.

If on the 6.99$ LABEL ITSELF, it was written "MP-Bee", only then he would have a right. What he did was a bloody fraud. He know this and the manager was either an acomplice, or incompetent.

What's the problem exactly? He purchased it legally.

It's not like he took it out of the package and then placed it into another of lesser value. He saw the potential for a bargain, utilised his rights as a consumer, and walked out of the shop with a nice new MP Bumblebee at a bargain price.

Dunno why people are getting upset over it. Envious perhaps? >:oP

But the price on the shelf wasn't even for MP BB, it was for the little Alt Mode figures. It would be different if they forgot to take a sales tag off the shelf the day after the sale ended or if it was printed with the wrong price, but it wasn't even for the same item! The manager should have looked closer and never honored the price. Anyone can go around swapping prices or putting things on the wrong shelves.

This laber clearly blurrily state that it's for "Transformers Battle Modes". Whatever that is. It is NOT written "MP-Bee".

Making this whole thing irrelevant. Things are placed over the wrong label everytime either by distracted employee or by customers who don't care. That's why there is price-check stations in stores.

Why so blurry? It says Alt Modes, those figures with the big heads and tiny bodies and vehicles stuffed inside them.

Right, it's price tag swapping, which is illegal, and this post is rather incriminating since he's admitting he knew before hand that the price was for another item.

Doing something illegal without getting caught doesn't make it OK.
