I got it today and it looks awesome, but the one thing i was unhappy about is the cheap grey plastic, especially on the front grill and... pretty much everywhere.
I'm planning to repaint the gray with a metal finish, but i don't know anything about painting on plastic... how would i go about applying a coat of metallic finish that would be reflective as well? And is there a way to prevent wear and tear on the finish?
Thanks in advance!
I want to repaint the Leader Class Movie Optimus Prime

I think you should post this in the Kitbash Forum:

Acrylic silver paint should work nicely, unless you really want to chrome the grill, in which case, i have no idea.

as a matter of fact, now that you mention it i'm thinking i probably should ideally alternate between acrylic silver and chrome paint dependding on the parts...
Thanks anyway, i'll browse through kitbash and see if i can find some answers there.

Well, you do bring up a very good point though....why does Hasbro and apparantly Takara do the cheap Plastic Grey coloring anyways?? The molding plastic can be added with an extra color to make it seem like silver without repainting..

Because it would cost the a few pennies more, and they are getting to be cheap buggers.

i definitely agree, to quote one of my older posts i'd be happy to pay as much as i paid my good old MP-04 and get a true-to-movie figure... it's a shame, the leader class optimus's transformation and mold are good, thou i'd have added some way to reveal the matrix (or spark?) and even a rough fake interior. By looking at the cab's mold it's not that hard if they are prepared to sacrifice the utterly useless "Automorph" clockwork inside the torso and replace it with more detailed and meaningful features.
A good start, but there is much to be desired. MP-04, even in its simplicity, still smokes the new guy.
