Movie toys repainted as Classic 2.0 - What could be done?
Since they said the Universe/Classics 2.0 would contain redecos, I was wondering if any movie figures would be up to being repainted as Classic Transformers.
The only one that comes to my mind is Tow Line repainted green and orange as Classic Hoist.
Any other ideas?

I so hope they don't repaint movie figs for the Universe line.
but if they had to, i'd say he blue decepticon pick up truck (forget his name) could make an interesting looking Kup.

This is something I don't think we'll see due to the licensing deal with Paramount. The Collectors Club have already confirmed that they won't be able to use any of the movie moulds for next year's Botcon toys and I'd assume that Hasbro wouldn't be able to put them out directly unless they were movie branded. Pretty sure that this would apply to the actual movie characters, the non movie characters might be more of a grey area.

Does Paramount have anything to say about non-movie movie toys? Like the Tow-Line figure? Heck, even the Real Gears. Not in the movie, just part of the toy line.

I suspected as much. I would think Paramount and Dreaorks would want a cut of the proceeds form figures that were based of off their movie. And Hasbro isn't dumb enough to share the profits, when they can be there's alone, just to repaint a few figures. They have more than enouhg figures from other lines to use. They really don't need to go that way.

More than enough figured to repaint. This is from the company that gave us Ransack GTS, Override GTS, Brakedown GTS. They sometimes repaint things for no good reason into useless characters.
I'd rather have a Classic Hoist/Movie Longarm or a Classic Trailbreaker/Movie Dropkick than some of the weird stuff they pull. They might need to redo the heads of course.

That thought's crossed my mind as well. But then, all the non-legend movie figures I either have or want (except for Jazz) would get this treatment.

My vote for the HOF goes to my favorite Transformer, Kup, to the Headmasters (who still need new figures that aren't just the characters without their master components) and to seibertron.com for for being the ultimate TF resource.

This is a TERRIBLE idea. If Universe is now ment to be a G1 homages line, then the last thing we want are the movie toys in it, none of them are even remotly similer to any G1 charecters, and frankly the majority of the movie toys (dispite their obvious technical achivment) are not good enough to go with the Classics and some of the promised Universe tfs.

A valid reason not to do it, if that's how it works out. Problem is I haven't seen any transformers I seriously meant to get since I bought Swindle from Frys. You don't normally find a lot of transformers (or at least not a lot of good ones) there because it's primarily a grocery chain, but it's kind of a pain that none of the places you'd normally shop for transformers don't have the ones you want.

I dunno if I'd go that far. I'd agree the non-movie movie figures (which are the majority of what I'm looking for right now) may not be equal to what was presented in Classics 1.0, but they're good enough to get used as repaints IMO. If stores are going to abandon the movie line, I think they should do it in some form or another anyway. I'd say make them Hasbro Toy Shop exclusives, but they're doing as badly as the stores are with having movie stuff available...

When will the Classics 2.0 be released? Is it going to be called that or are the fans just dubbing the Universe line that? Is there any confirmation of ANY of the figures that will be made? Sorry about the flood of questions.

Not another one of these topics movie figures will not work as redecos in the universe line they look nothing like g1 figure. The rule of redecos is that the figure has to look something like the g1 figure it supposed to be an example is cybertron armorhide looks something like pipes/huffer.

Could not agree more.
I want the Classics 2.0 /Universe figures to be of the same kind of quality stuff that we saw in Classics and Cybertron, not the cheap and nasty movie stuff.
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.
