What Masterpiece(s) would you like to see done and how would like to see them done?
The president of Takara has just asked you to decide what the next Masterpiece edition figure will be. It's completely up to you to decide what kinds of accessories and special features this toy will have. What do you say to him?

Grimlock w. obligatory crown and energo-sword. There's no possibility of repainting him as anybody else tho' (except his technocolored G2 self.) But then again Megatron's doesn't have any other repaint possibilities and they did him. And besides, you'd probably get a few kids to get their parents to buy him just because he's a dinosaur.
Aside from Grimlock, umm... Swoop? (Heh.) Ironhide/Ratchet, Jazz/Ricochet (extra Targetmaster accessory), Prowl/Bluestreak/Smokescreen, Shockwave, Soundwave and Bumblebee.
And as for quality, well I'd look to the other Masterpiece TFs and Alternators for engineering and such.

Ironhide.
Concealed forearm canon (that shoots nitrogen etc, ala the G1 toon)
A cybertronian 'billy club' b/c he is Primes' bodyguard and a high ranking member of security.

Most important feature? An innovative and creative transformation that results in an accurate vehicle mode, and a 86TFTM quality robot mode.
It CAN be done!

Wow, fast responses....thanks guys.
I would love to see a Grimlock figure as well, but before anything else, I'm dying to see a cartoon accurate G1 Galvatron. Scale him to Megatron's height, but get rid of Meg's chicken legs and give Galvy the overly bulked-up look that he had in the movie.
Features? Besides the obligatory neck-chain matrix, he ought to have a light-up particle cannon ala MP Megatron. Maybe have it shoot a different color light though - purplish like Galvy's particle cannon used to shoot in the cartoons.
Since we're pulling out all the stops (hey, I've got the president's ear!) I'd also like to give him a replacement face. His "standard" face could be similar to MP Megatron's angry face, but how about the option of taking it off and replacing it with an arrogant smirk face (think, "Unicron, my master. With this I shall make you my slave").
Now here's the cool part: when you take off his face to put the other one on, underneath we see a reasonable facsimile of the mechanics that we saw underneath Megatron's face when Unicron reformatted him and "peeled away" his old skin. This would be impossible to pull off with his entire body, but wouldn't that be cool underneath his face?
Side note: I've always wondered what Galvy would look like with the purple parts painted black. A black helmet, white face and red eyes would give him a more nightmarish look. And since Takara seems to swap colors without regard to continuity (think Starscream's color scheme), why not offer a Galvatron repaint?
What would you guys suggest for a Rodimus Prime MP?

A perfect G1 Bumblebee. Surprised it wasnt mentioned yet. There was never a very impressive high end Bumblebee made. Even Binaltech never got to him. Not sure why, but I would buy one in a heartbeat, and definitely a character that suits the MP status. Don't even mind it being smaller size as long as the engineering and design is superb.

WheelJack. He could feature light up panels on the side of his head. That would be cool. Sunstreaker as well, he really doesn't need any features, maybe a second face like ol' 'Screamer. He could have the "I'm so serious" look, and then the "Damn, I'm hot" look.

fully articulated devastator without attachments. Everything except the weapons should be transformable.
I don't mind if Devastator is on scale with Megs and Prime so long as every individual constructicon is fully articulate and devastator is fully articulate.

MP Shockwave. New intricate transformation without a detachable barrel. He should come with a stand that includes a Space Bridge console. He should have electronic parts & sounds. He also should have flip up wrist communicators with Megatron and Starscream on each.
MP Soundwave. A slightly modified alternate form would be cool. Intricate transformation. Cassettes are must. Hidden speakers that open when he does he powerful decibel attack. Accessories: Gun, Missle Launcher, and flip-up mini-radar equipment for eavesdropping ability. And of course, a few energon cubes.

Ironhide and Ratchet get my vote. Their G1 toy situation really needs to be addressed.
Win/win situation ... we'd all be happy, and they will have a repaintable mold.
I always loved Ironhide in the G1 cartoon. Grimlock was my favorite, so I wouldn't be disappointed to see him as an MP. However, Ironhide sounds like the more cost effective solution for Takara/Tomy/Hasbro ... whoever actually takes care of the initial design process.
IRONHIDE/RATCHET FTW!!!

Going to have to second the MP Bumblebee. Since he'd be a bit smaller in size he could have extra features like working headlights/tailights, come complete with jetpack and Spike figure.
He could be repainted into Cliffjumper (yet again!) and CJ would come with an arsenal oversized guns and other weapons, along with a rack or case to store them in.

A Rodimus Prime MP would be my second choice after MP Galvatron. I'm just having a hard time thinking of the accessories I want with him. An opening Matrix is obviously a given, but we saw that already with Prime, so what can we think of that's new and exciting for Rodimus?
Maybe give him some of the stuff he had as Hot Rod. For example, just as MP Prime's hand can be retracted and replaced with an energon sowrd, why not give MP Rodimus a buzzsaw hand (like the one Hot Rod used on Quintessa against the mechanical squid, in the movie)? It would be nice if the buzzsaw would be more than one peice, so that you can actually spin the blade with your fingertips. It'd have to be plastic, not metal, for safety reasons.
Or a flip-down green eyepeice for long-distance sight, as we saw in the movie.
Oh yes. And a compartment in his hip socket for storing his energon goodies container. J/K.

I guess it kinda depends: is this a decision on what I think would be best for me, or best as a business decision (i.e. it has to make money, etc).
If it were up to me, with all the consequences thrown out the window: SNARL!!
But from a business perspective I think it would almost *have* to have some sort of repaint value unless it was a really iconic figure - that's why they did Megs. So from that angle I would have to choose Grimlock (iconic), Soundwave (iconic), or Bumblebee (easy repaint to cliffjumper).
My $0.02,
S.P.

I like this. A non-detachable barrel would be quite an engineering feat.

This is totally what YOU personally would want to see. You know that episode of The Simpsons where Homer's brother Herb lets Homer design a car for his company, and Homer designs the perfect car for Homer, and runs Herb's company into the ground?

but not G1 accurate. A good example of the detachable barrel is in the outro to commercials/intro back to the show in the first couple seasons.
