I'm talkin' about including the expanded universe characters into their respective "Heroes" lines.

When I was at Toys R Us the other night, I was surprised to see the new Spider-Man 3 "Super Hero Squad" figures, which included the new designs for Rhino, Scorpion and Lizard re-imagined for the Movie Universe of Spider-Man.







So, anyone wonder if we'll actually see the other "Movie" Transformers included in the Robot Heroes line? There are plenty of worthwhile characters and designs, and since Hasbro said they, the fans and the retailers like the line, it will no doubt continue. Just look at how much fans love characters like Wreckage and Dropkick, I'm sure they would love to see little Robot Heroes incarnations. Just think of how many "Expanded Movie Universe" characters they have to work with: Wreckage, Dropkick, Long Arm, Arcee, Swindle, Payload, Dreadwing, Thundercracker, Evac, Landmine, Stockade, Incinerator, Cliffjumper - hell, they could even do the redecos like G1 Jazz and Starscream, Desert Attack Brawl, Rescue Ratchet, Nightwatch Prime, Recon Barricade...

And I know what most of you are going to say, it's the same comments that come up over and over again in every Robot Heroes thread out there: people are going to say "they should make more G1 Heroes before the movie ones".

THEY ARE.

So let's move on now... I'm getting tired of fans who just want G1 stuff over and over again, especially since they keep getting it and fans of newer lines have to put up with more G1 stuff. This thread is for fans who want the Heroes line to expand and include characters and designs from more recent series.

Id say its very possible, when the initial shock from the movie toy line wears off and they need something to spark interest and give the sales a "spike" then I would say Im almost sure we will see it!

The difference being a severe lack of characters in the Spider-man movie and the Transformers Movie.

If Spider-man 3 had stuck to Spider-Man, Vemon, Sandman and Green Goblin, well, you get two packs of Characters. Even expanding into the previous Movies, you get just one more pack of characters. As it is, they stretched it out by giving you a different Spidey in three of the packs seen in these photos. Still, it looks like they did stay within the "Official Movie Realm" by staying with characters not seen in the movies, but in the movie game series. Mysterio, Shocker and Blackcat still MIA... wasn't Vulture in the first game too?

In the TF series, you get what is it... Five Packs just from characters seen in the Movies. I wouldn't write off the chance at more characters, but odds are TF2 will be out first.

Personally, I just don't see the thrill in the these figures. People complained about Action Masters because they sacrificed transforming for more articulated figures, and even that wasn't greatly executed. Now they give us tiny hunks of PVC in overly cartoonish stylings and terribly limited posing, and people are craving more.

And what the hecks going on with the Lizards Tongue?

Though the sequel is three years away probably. Wave 2 of the Movie Heroes (Brawl, Starscream, Ironhide etc.) comes out in December (according to EE), and, if the Star Wars "Heroes" are any indication, new waves usually come out every two months. If they want to keep the line fresh (G1 stuff in every wave will get old, though I often under-estimate fans' ability to stomach the same G1 stuff over and over and over), so adding spreading out waves like G1, Beast Wars and Movie stuff will make the line's shelflife longer.

It's sort of like how they did with Titaniums. Like the Robot Heroes, it was a line that encompassed many different series, and was not a series by itself. Titaniums never had too much of one thing, and switch between G1, War Within, Beast Wars, RiD and more... The Robot Heroes can do the same thing. I think fans neglect the amount of potential in this line... who wouldn't want a cute little Robot Heroes Fallen, or any of the great War Within, or Hearts of Steel designs?

Well, then I guess they've covered all the Spidey video game characters as well. And they've got four fingers...

Three years off... bah... they've done nothing but fast train this franchise. Heck the DVD's already been announced. We'll be lucky if this [more than likely] trilogy of films doesn't spiral out of control and die in a whimper like the Matrix and Pirates movies. Both of which could've stopped after one.

Titaniums jumped all over the place because they were trying to find a niche that would sell. It's been abandoned because they failed. This robot heroes line seems like just another gimmick to get money from every age group and impulse collectors. Give Hasbro another few months, and there'll be five inch versions of these figures much like the Spider-man and Friends toys currently clogging toy shelves.

I'd like standard releases of those series first.
Then I will welcome the cuteness full force!!!

I can see it now, a battle royale of mismatched overly cute characters. It'll be an anime friendly game of Risk with Transformers and the front window cast of the Littlest Pet Shop duking it out on the front lines.

That said be sure to add the other Abominations of the Marvel Universe to the cast. I saw the new Sentinels and Apocalypse toys the other day.

Beast Wars is coming soon, but we Armada fans will probably be left out. Again. Unless they do a line with characters from all different lines.

Serious? I knew Robot Heroes was popular, and alot of fans liked it.. but I actually didn't think they'd expand out of the Movie and Original G1.

And Armada could be done, if they do a Unicron Trilogy set. But then that also means probably none of the characters I really like(Blurr.. Scavenger... Wheeljack)

Wanted to throw my 2 cents into this thread...

Being an average fan, at an average age for someone who "grew up" with G1,

I'd bet that there are more people than you'd ever think
that never were into much past G1 (in the realm of TF).
I can say this with confidence because I was part of that generation.
Most of the people I knew that were into TF grew out of all of that.
It was a pretty common sequence;
--Cartoons & toys
--Start playing a sport, watch fewer cartoons, play with fewer toys
--Continue playing sports, start playing video games, start playing an instrument, stop watching so many cartoons and playing with toys,
--Continue playing sports, playing video games, and playing an instrument...
No more cartoons or toys.
I can remember how disappointing it was when Beast Wars came out, and it was all CG...
My littler brother (8 years younger) loved it...
But it was just another reason to go outside, or go downstairs and play the drums some more.

For lots of people who were G1 fans,
we haven't been into all this since back in the 80's.
(There may be lots of exceptions to this here on the forums,
but let's face it, that's a big exception--
being 30 years old, I guarantee tons of people who were originally G1 fans wouldn't ever THINK about coming here,
simply because there's so much talk about everything beyond G1 that would be foreign).
Yeah, the first time hearing that TF toys were going to be re-released, it was kinda cool,
but that was about it.
Again, we were at the age where we were playing in bands,
or traveling with sports teams, and tryin' to get in with the girls.

So "How can people not be sick of G1 stuff?"???
It's because there are tons and tons of people who haven't been into TF since G1!!!!

It's sweet sweet nostalgia...
Hell, it may not even be the best of TF history...
But it is the original.

If Hasbro decides to make lots of waves of B.W. and whatver else,
that's cool.
But it's not THAT outlandish for people to want to see more G1 characters gettin' love.

True enough I suppose, it's just that these "chunky" figures [as the hasbro site calls them] are just a means of getting money from a younger age group during the hype of the movie, much like cyber slammers and cyber stompers. I don't see it generating the dedicated fanbase of a future generation. If I'm proven wrong so be it.

I just find it ironic that people who don't like transformers that don't transform are willing to bend the "cute" factor of this particular line.

It's the degree of novelty that makes or breaks the toys. I dislike the Stompers because they don't make good display pieces AND they aren't of the main line.

Robot heroes are only one step below the movie's main toy line. For one looking for display pieces it migth even be a more worthy purchase.

Yeah, the display great, and really brighten up an office or a collection! They're so adorable. And to all the people who think we ignore the fact that they don't transform just because of the cuteness factor...

Well... yes, we do, and what's wrong with that?
