Noticed something about movie Ratchett tonight..

Postby Malikon » Mon Sep 24, 2007 4:58 am

I noticed something about Movie Ratchet tonight that I hadn't noticed before or seen mentioned, so I thought I would.

When I was watching the movie I noticed that Ratchet has the lights from his luggage rack near his head, so I took the toy down and was looking at it and noticed a small plug behind his head, attached to the door that covers his head. Taking his split luggage rack/weapon off his arm it attaches behind his head the same way as his arm. This splits the rack to one half behind each side of his head, kinda giving him that 'wings' look, but it also puts the rack lights framed around his head like he has them in the movie. I haven't noticed any pics of the toy where his rack is behind his head, and I checked in the gallery here and still didn't see it. I think it makes Ratchet look alot better, and much closer to the way he looks in the movie. Plus the way the pegs worked together I imagine this is how he's supposed to be when his weapons not on his arm.

I'd take a pic, but my camera batteries are dead.

cameras still not working.

Maybe this will help. Behind his head and down his back a little there's a peg, if you put the bottom of the weapon hole on the peg, the red parts of the weapon will sit right above the wheels. It makes him look a hell of alot cooler.

Maybe someone here can do it with there's and take a picture.

That's the way I've displayed mine since I got him. I wasn't to keen on the luggage rack being a weapon, it just looked goofy.

Agree wtih above. I noticed that when he was on my desk. Looks much cooler. Just wish he wasnt as chunky of a toy, since his movie self is much leaner, opposite of Ironhide.. to skinny as a toy, needs to be chunkier!

I'll be leaving him like this.

i remember seeing this in some other TF forum a while back. i really like it better. i might saw a new cut a new notch so the rack will stay better sometime, because it doesn't seem to stay very well.

nice find! Although I talked some garbage about ratchet in the past ... Rescue Ratchet has me kinda digging the mold now. His legs and feet look a lot less cheap in white.

Still ... that green color is blah!

Looks like it'll take up far less space than having the "claw" weapon in his hand too.

Will use this with my Rescue Ratchet. Thanks for the tip!

I'm glad you guys are digging it too. I wasn't really a fan of Ratchet, but now that he has wings I'm liking him more. I'm a sucker for Bots with wings.

Definitely an improvement. At least he won't resemble a fiddler crab anymore

I was really eager to get my hands on Rescue Ratchet, and when I opened him up and transformed him, I was actually pretty disappointed. My first thought was of a starlight mint. I love the way the green scheme looks, and I thought I'd love the G1 colors more. Oh well, such is life. I will say that I like the head better on Rescue Ratchet -- the contrast is nice. I must be an oddball, because I really like the Starscream and Ratchet molds.

I like Ratchet alot for his blockiness and sturdy/stocky look.

Me too! He's a very tight, solid figure. I just wish he had some sort of blaster, like in the movie. I don't enjoy his hand-to-hand gimmick. LOL!

I like ratchet too. He really looks sturdy. I agree, he needs a gun or something.

Yes, That is all Ratchet has: Blocky and sturdy ....which doesn't count in my book. An inferior mold imo.

where do most people find his flip out arm blade? I thought it was one his left arm, but on mine it's on his right arm. Then when you pull it out and open it the paint/design is displayed behind him.

Mine's on the right arm as well. The left arm can't have the blade because the part of his right arm that folds out into the axe on the right rside is solid on the left side.

Does anybody else have a Rescue Ratchet that has kinda loose arm swivel joints? Compared to the regular Voyager Ratchet, my Rescue Ratchet feels kinda loose.

I did that light rack mode with my Rescue Ratchet, which I have displayed with my ALTs:

My RR has fine joints, it's probably just your bot.

Try either tightening the screws if there are any, or you can use the superglue trick.

Put a thin (thin is the KEY word here) layer of super glue on the joints and slowly work the joint till the glue dries, about a min. This will tighten up most figure's joints without damaging the look since SG dries clear. Clear nailpolish works too, but takes a lot longer to dry.
