One of a kind?

Postby pcsguy88 » Tue Mar 06, 2007 12:25 pm

Hello all,

I have a feeling that I passed up a One of a kind piece last night. I found a Classics Astrotrain in perfect packaging, but the cardboard back was Starscream's. Should I go back for it? I'm a collector, not a sellr, so I have no clue if this is of value to any of you.

Thanks for any comments you might make.

Probably just a packaging error. Although it might be worth something to someone, i don't think its particularly valuable. Also the fact that Classics packaging has been Plagued with errors (Jetfire's picture with Astrotrains name springs to mind) makes this particular error go down in value. But i suppose someone that collects packaging errors might enjoy owning this.

Thanks for the heads up. I have no interest in packaged TF's and little room to store them, which is why I left it behind. I just had a nagging feeling that it would be ridiculasly valuable, but if it is not unheard of, I'll let someone else feel special when they buy it.

Yeah, but don't expect to sell it and make a profit. Errors like that generally don't go up much in value unless it's a production run mistake that's common enough to be considered a variant and, even then, packaging changes don't usually see much change in value.

Only really widespread packaging errors are worth something, like TM Hot Rod having Misfire as a weapon.

Basically, that sounds like an isolated incident, I would've bought it from you though for like $15-$18!

But then again I am a Starscream maniac.
