My Review Of Final Battle Jazz

Postby Agent 007 » Sun Oct 21, 2007 4:32 pm

Hey guyes, just got back from target and snagged a Final battle jazz. Anyhoo, here's my review
Alt mode-
A little but different than jazz's first release. No silver trim on the wheels  and the whinsheild is now green. Looks nicer than first jazz. Also the roof is now a shiny silver which looks quite nice, pitty they couldn't make the whole body like that but oh, well. Mine also fits together alot better than my other jazz too. The front and sides looks very nice. The new weapon fits on the groove on his spoiler and looks ok i guess. It can be placed at either end. My only gripe is if this is supposted to be battle damaged where is it?! Not a spec of damage on the solstice. My guess would be GM didn't want their baby to get all diry, but bb is dirty too. :-x Other than battle damage, solstice mode is a 8.5/10
Transformatation- same as other jazz only mine's joints were nice and tight.
Robot mode-
Battle damage more present in this mode. Blue and black chinkes are taken out of his legs looks quite nice. His shin gaurds are crumbled and looks war torn. The chest and arms mave no battle damage kinda weird looking but it's part of the car. The head looks real nice too. His visors cracked and has green light piping looks cool. Only thing I would change is had part of his helment crumbled off. His gun can be placed in either hand either end. The first end looks just like the movie gun, sort of a machine gun. The other looks like some sort of stick. Keep it on the gattle gun side. He also comes with a missle that can fire out the machinegun end. Also, would have been nice if he could be torn in half, but that will happen soon enough
Overall- 9/10 A very nice figure and worth the $10. If u get a jazz final battle is the way to go. He's got a better gun, and looks alot better. My only gripes are not enought battle scars and a clean solstice mode. Go get one!

I modded mine to split in half.

Just remove the 2 screws holding his upper body to his lower. There's a black rectangular piece that connects both halves, and it has 2 screws holding it onto the lower half. Just take those out, and you have Jazz in his final Earthly form.

Best part is, he still stays together in both modes, just stick the black piece back where it's supposed to go and peg the top into the bottom as usual. Very sturdy. Car mode is the same, just line up the black piece into the lower body like it's supposed to go and fold him up. In robot mode, the black piece looks like a spinal stump, gory and cool. FWIW...

Sorry, forgot that part. You have to take apart his waist, the whole crotch piece. Once you get the frotn and rear halves off and the legs fall out, you'll see 2 screws going into the black part that joins the upper and lower body halves. Relove those and the 2 halves will separate. Reassemble the waist/hip section and you're done.

Very simple, HTH.

The only nice thing about having both is to give the original the better gun.

I agree .. his FB gun freakin owns! My G1 redeco gets all of the play time though.

I'm no G1 fanboy, but the redeco stuff on the newer molds ... doesn't get any better.

I have reprolabels coming for my alts. mirage and hound. jazz is already done up. Absolute coolness.

I also modded my SDCC Rodimus with Clocker pipes and black hands. I do what I can to pay homage to G1.

Anyway, I'm trailing off here ... great review!

I have reprolabels on Jazz, BT. Prowl, Alt. Hound, Tracks...Hound looks pretty good with them on.

How does the BT prowl reprolabels work out? I only have the blue version in Binaltech. My police prowl is an alternator. I'm not enthused to spend $90 on BT police prowl ... only to fork over more cash and prizes for the decals. I'll probably end up passing over BT police prowl.

How do the 2 versions of decked out police prowls compare? Something tells me that I'd prefer the alts version ... fantastic paint apps without the wobbly ankles.

Hound kicks all kinds of ass with his G1 decals. I wish the BT version wasn't so top heavy though. They should've put some metal somewhere on his legs to balance him out.

The Alt. Prowl has the G1 look but has a baby blue interior + legs. The BT Prowl is a Japanese police car and very plain looking. But he has a black interior + legs. Reprolabel stickers are very G1...I covered up the Japanese markings. As for Hound, I have both versions but my BT is plain right now.

I'm in the same situation as well...I'm tempted to buy FB Jazz to 'destroy' him more since it doesn't really look damaged right now, especially the alt mode...

I've seen FBJ countless times in stores but I can't get myself to buy it, the so-called battle damage deco looks silly. I only want it for the gun. :)

trust me it's worth it! Mine looks better in alt mode and can roll better and his car mode fits together and looks more accurate to the real solstice. The battle damage looks alot better in person too. I wasen't gonna buy him at first, but once i saw him on the shelf, I couldn't help myself. He's a great canadite for custom too. ;;)
