i hate to revive an old contention but i get the feeling that animated toys are now being very well received, compared to a year ago when people were ready to die in despair i bet many of the same are dying to get their mitts on them.
TF or not i'd argue that animated toys are amongst the best toy designs ive seen in ages. I love the minimal sculpts, bold colours (without being too bold), the (apparently simple and intuitive) transformations, the look of the toys themselves, some oddball bot modes eg lugnut, he reminds me of G1 oddities like apeface. Also within a reasonably small core line up there is great variety and each toy is so very unique and recognisable. Im sure these will appeal to kids, on shelf they just have to be more eye catching than the oh so dreary movie toys.
Animated feels like fresh air on those isles. Perhaps my most anticipated line of toys since i first was introduced to TF 23 years ago.
AS they start appearing on shelves what are your thoughts???

Animated has been well received since BotCon 07 when people came back raving about the preview.
I think the only true wide scale dislike of it was after the first awful image of Prime was released.

i remember that well, admittedly that picture was awful! ironically i find (voyager) prime to be the toy that is way better than his cartoon look, hes way to gangly, wheres the toy is greek statue solid.

I still don't like that art of prime. They used it on the battle begins two pack, and it's awful.
Thankfully, the head sculpt on Prime in that two pack is **** A.

I'm still indifferent to them as I prefer TF's that have a more detailed look.

Well having missed out on the Classics line, exceptions 4 Classic Optimus Primes, 1 Skyfire / Jetfire, 1 Astrotrain, 1 Grimlock (never opened because I saw how wonky his transformation is), & 1 Mirage, the Animated Line is the first I have desired from toenails to scalp since my G1 collection.
I have pre-ordered "Transformers Animated Deluxe Wave 02: Set of 6", Universe 2.0 Prowl (yay, not some motocycle) and plan on pre-ordering Soundwave, Snarl, Jazz & Oilslick from "Transformers Animated Deluxe Wave 03: Set of 4".
Animated Leader Class Megatron is the best Megatron ever made. Unlike Classics Optimus Prime, which is great except he doesn't have a trailer and has lots of arm cruft, I just don't see anything bad about this figure. His introduction in the series in "Megatron Rising" parts 1 & 2, you can Youtube or VEOH those, are so stellar that I rewatch them over and over. 4 times now. In my defense, I do have 4 kids.
My 3yo son watched intently as Megatron emerged and thrashed Optimus Prime and all of the Autobots (they were raised on classic G1 series before the movie came out), and was transfixed, until the end when OP finally manages to scrape out a victory and bashes Megatron (who didn't expect that?) and he threw up all of his arms and legs in an amazing trick of balance for a boy his age and exclaimed "OPTIMUS CRIME WINS! HE BASHED MEGATRON!"
So yeah, the whole family is looking forward to this line. My daughters are thinking of getting more than one Blitzwing, because they all love him, and my wife wants Leader Class Bulkhead, because she likes him the best.

I'm loving Animated, but I've done so from the start.
I'm not much of a hater. I've not liked the movie designs much, but since I started collecting at the end of Cybertron I've really liked most things I've seen. Cybertron, Alternators, Classics, Titaniums, they're all good.
