Ramjet is one the TFs that was produced in the early 90's in China but I don't see any evidence that this is one of those. They would have the Chinese character for Ramjet on the top right of the box flap. It would also have the copywrite info blanked out on the toy and the box but I cannot see either of those.

If that's the case, then you wouldn't know until you saw the copyright info. However, seems legit. The rips on the cardstock seems like it may be an orig. However, since it's open, ask the seller for a pic of the copyright info.

Why would anyone make a boxed high-quality Ramjet KO?

There are different releases of counterfeit Transformers. The Swoop, cassettes, Bumblebee are new. Back in the early 90's during the G2 era, there was a large production of G1 Transformers that were made. The legit versions ended up being the European Classic line (gold boxes) and the rest were produced for the Chinese market to replicate the original 84-87 Japanese stuff.

The most notorious and readily available items are Ironhide, Soundwave (Euro box), Jazz, smokescreen, and Cyclonus. I have seen everything from Wheeljack and Sunstreaker to actually having a fake Megatron,Hound, and a couple Headmasters in my possesion at one point.

They are an inferior product and made in China instead of Japan.

Yes, but the reason behind those choices is that they're popular characters and - certainly in the case of Swoop and Mirage - very hard to find near-mint examples of the originals. Thus, the KO-makers see a gap in the market to plug and make a profit.

Ramjet has his fans, but he's not a big leaguer. Plus, he's fairly easy to get hold of at a decent price. Unless, as said, this is an early 90s one, I can't see any logic in some one now making a Ramjet KO.
