I got Deluxe class Brawl, Voyager class Ironhide and Leader class Prime yesterday at launch.

I just wanted to comment on those 3 products and ask you..which were the best MADE figures you purchased as well as the WORST or most dissapointing figs?

Ironhide: Without the directions, transforming him is difficult. Transforming him back to the Topkick mode without the directions is maddening to a degree. The reason? The arms want to stick out underneath the wheels too much. I figured it out after awhile..the arm pegs need to insert flush within the pelvis area.

The shoulders/Topkick 'snout' feel loose, yet springy. They feel also as if a small tumble may knock them loose..so I'll be careful. Windshield pops off too easily..and risks a fatal snap of the peg if forced back into place I fear. Use caution! All in all, a great fig, lighter in weight than I expected, and albeit a little frustrating, a great purchase for someone that missed out on the G1 Trailbreaker

Brawl: Great tank mode. Full swiveling turrets, ball-jointed flak cannons on the sides, primary barrel shoots nice.

In bot mode, however, he lacks any 'playability'. The arms are part of the underside of the turret and connect to the torso via small pegs that do NOT connect deeply enough. Pegs need to be longer. Arms flop down.
Knees cannot bend as far as I know.
Great LOOKING fig..but transform him and set him aside.

Leader class Prime: Great, great fig. Engineering of Transformers in it's heyday for sure. Nice feel, nice weight. Almost seems as if Prime loses mass when transformed into semi-mode..very cool!

While that's a cool attribute, the whole semi form does seem a little small for my tastes. Wish the overall width was wider...perhaps the width the 20th anniversary Prime was.
Yellow lights are..odd. Should be blue, of course.
Transformation is excellent, and after transforming back and forth two or so times, the instructions are not needed. I personally like the 'slide' auto-morph technology utilized in the foot/grill transformation..very nice. I also must mention the kneecaps form the whole top of the semi engine hood after unfolding and spreading..very creative!

Lastly, I found it uber cool that the AA battery compartment for the Leader Prime was actually IN the 'gas tank'. I love that!


Soo...what do you guys think? Personally, I'd like to hear..is Barricade worth getting? Was Scorponok a letdown in any way? How about Blackout; does he pose well and transform logically?

The only movie figures I have are both protoforms (Let me get this out of the way now: THEY SUCK. throttlebots are more fun, okay?), Deluxe Scorponok, and tonight, I got my beloved and LONG-anticipated Voyager Starscream.

First Scorponok: His robot mode is absolutley lazy. Like the designers were about to go on a 3-day weekend, but before they were allowed to leave, they had to finish Scorponok's robot mode. It is utter rubbish, as our friends across the pond would say.

Scorponok's alt mode, the one for which he is well-known, on the other hand, is damned nice for only $10 US. The sculpt, the paint applications, the shades of subtle coloring...and that cool projectile stinger. He also has wheels and little gears inside of his chest that spin the front pinchers. A nice nod to the original's "wheel moving action". All very ace. Does he live up to the hype of the original Headmaster? Not really. But for $10 who should expect anything more? Although him being bonded to Blackout and being released during combat is a very nice concept, one which I embrace...Scorponok deserves a Voyager-class figure. And a better robot mode.

Voyager Starscream: I got this tonight, and let me say wow.

His detailing is just awesome. Just subtle things like theexposed gears in his arms that they could have hidden if they so chose. No, they left these mechanical components exposed. Unlike the protoforms, the automorph feature on this thing is just sublime. It is like a puzzle puting itself together for you at the end.

Alt: A very well-detailed F/A-22. It is NOT an F-22. That designation was officially dropped over a year ago in favor of the F/A designation. That said, very nice weathering and matte paint applications simulate real-world exhaust and texture that would be on the real $200 million-plusthing...all for $20 US.

I do take issue with the underslung missile launchers. They are just crazy on such a sleek and low-profile machine as this. They look tacked-on frankly. But the arms have to go somewhere, right? I forgive the design that.

Robot: Okay, so Starscream has the head of Waspinator, the arms of a chaingun-weilding great ape, and the legs of a robot chicken...but that is all I can fault.

And, quite honestly, the crazy proportions are growing on me in a way. He is still NOT Starscream...but he is still kind of cool. he is not pretty, he is an ugly, machination of death and destruction...just what a live-action Decpeticon should appear to be.

When the whole transformation finally comes together, it starts to make sense, actually...the short legs, giant arms, huge chest, buggy head...don't ask me why or how, but it just works now.

I blame it on the Voyager incarnation being a delight to transform, and the THOUGHT that went into designing this one...when I look at this design and how it all comes apart, only to come back together again to form Starscream as we know him now...I see a lot of engineers drinking a lot of cold coffee at 4AM, eating a lot of cold ramen.

Most of you KNOW I love my brickformers, I love G1...but THIS, THIS is what I am talking about when I say I want something that does not look cheap, with clear body parts and bright colors everywhere (Energon Combiner Prime, anyone?). This is on the same plane as Classics Voyager Jetfire, and he really kicks @ss.

This is a very well thought-out figure. GET IT.

Actually I find a lot of the movie TFs transformations refreshingly new, and dificult (at least part of them).

FYI-- the larger autobots are shell formers to a degree...

Ratchet should be a must have...even if you wait for the better paint scheme. He has a simply tough looking and cool robot mode, as well as, nice transformation. His head sucks though...

Ironhide is a worthy purchase, but should thingies are floppy... I like him too.

Starscream is impressive as a TF toy, but not as Starscream. His transformation is very new, very different and extremely cool, leaving you a great hulking beast of a bot mode, not Starscream though at least to many of us.

Blackout is really cool, but has a small only slightly larger than a deluxe, robot mode.

Wreckage is fantastic, but chest does not lock in place.

Swindle is good, but plastic looks cheap (I think it is the red color).

The real gears are awesome! Especially Booster x 10, and Spy shot...

Brawl is fantastic, but his arms will not stay attached at the shoulder.

Barricade is cool with small Frenzy (who sucks IMHO), but his arm does the spring-loaded thing without warning...

Bumblebee sucks...avoid him unless you love CLASSIC camaros.

Arcee exclusive (E-repaint) is cool, but no surprises.

Scorponok is awesome if you never, ever transform him!

Bonecrusher is good, and quite intersting. Has quite a bit of play value.

Leader Prime is sweet. A difficult, but inuitive transformation, the only thing I do not like is that the automorph on mine does not lock into place, and thus is trying to push its waya out of alt mode as we speak (showing a hatch partially open where the head comes out).

The small leader class bots are cool. Simple transformations, but I like micromasters, and thus, I really like these guys...except Megs and Ratchet...I bought neither of them.

I'm going to recommend an out of left field one, mainly because it's been overlooked, but I'm enjoying the heck out of Cyber Stompin' Bumblebee. This wasn't anywhere NEAR my list of things I wanted when we set out this morning, but they're fun little toys. One great thing about him is that one of his sound buttons plays the G1 theme song, which I'll admit, made me geek out a little. The head sculpt is interesting, as he has a mouth suddenly. He's seems like he's pretty durable, too, and would be a fun toy for younger kids especially(this is a plus since my niece always wants to look at my Transformers when she's around, which typically results in me playing Teletran-1 in More Than Meets The Eye... "Explore, explore! Repair, repair!") .

I love the Real Gears. Reminds me of the good old days of having the Objectformers in G1. I'm probably going to get most of them. One down side, the paint seems to be more prone to scratch than other TFs for some reason.

The Robot Heroes are great, especially at their $4.99 price point. The detail level is surprising. Grimlock is a surprise favorite, just for the expression on his face.

And leader class Prime is amazing. I can't recommend him enough. It's just too bad we're waiting for leader class Brawl to give him decent opposition. Unless I hear a lot of good reviews, Megatron just ain't worth it.

Blackout, unfortunately, gets a bit of a thumbs down, just because he has some design issues. It's a shame because he's an amazing looking figure, but he just seems more prone to problems than others I've heard of, so far.

Oh, and if you haven't already, raiding Target's dollar bins is highly recommended. Some neat goodies, and you can't beat the price.

Scorponok: Honestly I like this figure alot, his transformation is easy and honestly he just looks damn cool.

Barricade: I love this guy.. His transformation is not too difficult and he looks great in both modes.

Bumblebee: Not too bad, I like him and his transformation is not too complex.

Jazz: Stocky, big legs, forearms feel flimsy (those that have him may know what I am talking about)and when transforming him I felt like I was going to break his shoulder's (again if you have him you may know what i am talking about). But IMHO he looks great in both forms.

Brawl: The one thing about this guy that absolutely pisses me off is how his shoulders do not lock into place like they should so his arms once put into place cannot be moved or they pop out of the pegs (if you have him you know what I am referring to).

Starscream: At first I hated him.. His smaller wing fins kept popping off and he had stress marks on his wings where they fold over and a few other details which I worked through. Now he is pretty decent.

Bonecrusher: I don't know why I like him but I do.. His transformation is somewhat simple the only real drawback is his feet but that can be worked through.

Wreckage: He would be so awesome if not for that feature where when you move his arms his chest moves (he does not lock into place so when you move the arms you have to hold on to the back so the chest does not swing up)

Leader Prime: I love this figure. He doesn't feel cheap at all, has a great transformation, and is solid in both modes.

Starscream: A surprise favorite. Like prime he feels good in both modes, and I haven't had any plastic stress on mine. Great transformation. Just watch those loaded canons if you're transforming him. You'll put your eye out!

Ironhide: A step below Prime and Starscream, but still very nice. His waist doesn't snap into place as firmly as I'd like. He has a very cool robot mode and nice poseability.

Blackout: I really like this guy, but I have a problem that when he is in alt mode, the nose of the helicopter goes above where it should be. I don't know if the gears aren't meshed right or what. I do really enjoy the button to turn the rotors though. It gives you lots of opportunity to run around the house doing sound effects.

Barricade: This my favorite deluxe. Nice transformation. I really dig frenzy "ejecting" from his chest. Even if frenzy is kind of lame.

Bonecrusher: He lacks a bit in being able to pose his arms, and fully extended they just look weird. But this is one tough toy. Next to Prime and Starscream, the most solid feeling of the bunch.

Bumblebee: Meh. He's all right. I found mine to be quite fiddly to transform. I was squeezing him all around to keep
him from popping apart. And he has some huge feet. He is probably my least favorite of the movie toys that I've purchased.

Ratchet (Voyager class)

I would say this is my favorite figure of all the movie designs. Even though the head sucks, claws for hands, and the colors could have been better he still is great. The bot mode has enough of the old school look about it to offset the movie ugly-ness. Also I really like the transformation, not overly complicated and not too simple. Enough of both to remind me of a more old school figure than a movie toy with a bunch of jagged moving parts. Another plus is that the figure feels pretty hefty and put together well. The only weak/cheap part on the figure imo is the roof, seems like the tab/post connecting it to the car boddy is pretty weak and could break easy so be careful with this.

Brawl (deluxe class)

This would be my second favorite movie design. For a deluxe class figure the bot mode is pretty nice and fairly detailed. Tank mode is nice. I also like the transformation. But where this figure falls short is the crappy arm joint. There really is no excuse to making the connecting tabs for the arms/shoulder so poor. They could have easly came up with something much better than what they did. Seems like they just got lazy and gave up on this area. Also the back/turrent flap sould really snap into place as opposed to just folding up and resting against the back. If they doo a leader class or voayger class these problems will be fixed

Y'know you can turn those cannons off right? There's a little tab that the buttons roll over as they spin...just flip that tab aside, and the auto-firing gimmick is turned off!

Ratchet(Great mold, but wait for the "white" recolor.)
Robo-Vision Prime/Target Exclusive(Utter beauty. Solid and great looking in both modes. Some frustating transformation elements, but nothing that can't be overcome with practice. And I was completely geeked that they even put in a driver.)

Deluxe:

Wreckage(Best of the bunch, period.)
Barricade(Both modes excellent, lack of head articulation is disappointing, "punch" gimmick is boring.)
Swindle(Suprisingly good with a well-incorporated gimmick, but feels alittle cheap. Makes an excellent drone.)
Skorponok(The beast mode alone is worth the purchase.)

Real Gear:

Booster X10("Laserbeak" ipod, executed flawlessly.)
Spy Shot(Same, even has light-piped eyes and articlated hands.)
Long View(Same, bright yellow tends to put me off, but it adds to the realism.)
Speed Dial 800(Very nice.)
Zoom Out 25X(Very good, just not the best.)

I only bought three Movie items...

Deluxe Bonecrusher, Robo Vision Prime, and Magnus-Megatron Robot Heroes two pack.

Bonecrusher is just awesome. Fun but simple transformation and both modes are awesome. Only drawback is with a lot of figures that are top heavy if you spread his legs out too far he can suffer from the "splits". This little pitbull is 9 on a scale of 1 to 10 as far as deluxes go.

Robo Vision Prime was pretty hard to transform into vehicle mode. And in truck he seems a bit I don't know, squashed together. Still looks good though, and the cowboy trucker inside is genius! Bot mode is awesome but the front of his feet don't seem to lock into place unless I am doing something wrong and he wobbles a little. Thankfully his feet are so long there is little chance of him actually toppling over. And TWO GUNS!! I love how they incorporated the smoke stacks into the guns. He comes in a very nice box that displays him well in robot mode. Great toy, great collectors piece alike. Another 9/10 here as far as voyagers go.

Magnus and Megatron are very nice, not much to them, just very nice. And at $2.50 per figure it's not bad. Highly recommend. For the price...9/10.

IMHO, the two movie figures I got were the only "must haves". I'll wait till more reviews come out before investing in any of the others, but I doubt I'll get any more of the current waves out other than the Robot Heroes.

I got Bonecrusher and the Bumblebee vs. Barricade pack. Bumblebee's nothing flooring, but there are some interesting bits, and he's nicely poseable, wrists and all. If you're going to pick up Barricade, it's worth getting the two-pack, but I'm not sure I'd go for Bee on his own. I do like his vehicle mode, but the Automorph aspects of his transformation can get a little annoying... You have to make sure the Autobot symbol pannel is pushed in far enough in vehicle mode, for example.

Barricade, frankly, is awesome. Love the vehicle mode, love having a Decepticon cop, and his robot mode look just really works for me. Some people have been complaining about the extendy arm, but I kida like it. And don't forget to flip up his foot spikes and turn the front wheels around for shoulderpads in robot mode. Frenzy is a neat little extra, and towers over mini-cons... He's actually about the same height as LoC figures. The way he pops out of Barricade's chest is pretty nice, and if you leave Frenzy's head out when you fold him up and put him away, Barricade has the world's creepiest hood ornament.

Bonecrusher has the coolest vehicle mode ever. The claw is nicely articulated, and looks nicely menacing. I can see him sticking it straight out in front and charging, or using it to swat Bumblebee into oncoming traffic. Transformation is odd, new, and rather satisfying. His robot mode is nice, too, if a tad on the small side, and you can get some nice poses out of him, especially with the extending arms.

I didn't have a chance to even consider getting the Robo-Vision Prime; someone post your private pics of him.. because I didn't see it in Target. Hell, I didn't even see that normal figure in ANY store!

..Same with the crappy Megatrons..either of 'em.

I should rephrase...I didn't feel like shelling out $40 for him. At least not at the moment. He does look neat though.

Swindle
Pros: He's got a really nice transformation. It's cool how his arms fold up for vehicle mode. His chest bursting machine gun rules.
Cons: His poseability is limited. His head is controversial, but I like it. His legs are sorta weird though.
Overall: 7/10 - Not a must have, but good if you're bored.

Bumblebee
Pros: Nice articulation, can get some awesome poses. The shoulder canons mounting on the wheels is awesome, and reminds me a lot of the G1 cars.
Cons: The yellow plastic looks really cheap. The windows are painted, the yellow missles suck, and his feet are too big. Those are only minor when you have to worry about the automorphing feature breaking due to design issues like mine did. Even though it broke I can still manually transform him (which I prefer). More paint apps would have made the figure less cheap looking.
Overall: 4/10 - Pretty sucky, some will like it, most will wait for the 08 version.

Barricade
Pros: He's a freaking police car as a decepticon, if that's not awesome what is? His motto only adds to his awesomeness. This is like satire in toy form. Cool head sculpt, great alt mode (on par with the alternators), complex transformation, and overall very appealing.
Cons: His arm punch sucks. Even if it didn't have a mind of its own and pop out whenever it wanted, it'd still suck. Mega punch... give me a break. His waist doesn't fit into his chest like it could, which is really odd. The tabs are too big for the slots.
Overall: 8/10 - You might want to risk waiting for a future, larger, more complex/detailed, version.

Wreckage
Pros: Really nice color repitition throughout. His legs are sculpted very 3d-ish and cool. His head is the most normal or classic looking of the bunch. The swords are freaking awesome.
Cons: Scale is a little whack. Do the swords have a place to store in vehicle mode? Head is on a slant, and hunchbacked. Can't look up or straight.
Overall: 9.5/10 - Even if you're not collecting movie figures, give this one a chance, at $10 you're not losing much, and he fits in great with cybertron or beast machines.

Jazz
Pros: It's jazz! Light piping and a somewhat g1 resemblance in the head sculpt. His alt mode is on par with what a modern day Jazz should be and isn't changing for changes sake.
Cons: Not very poseable (the knees hardly bend), and disproportionate. His arms really suck, it was a neat idea in concept but not in execution. Is that a sniper rifle or are you just happy to see me? You call those hands?
Overall: 7/10 - It could have been worse, but it's not all that great either.

Laserbeak
Pros: Its totally laserbeak.
Cons: It's not Booster... Gold? Wtf is booster?
Overall: 8/10 - Only for nostalgia.

Optimus Prime (Leader)
Pros: This guy is detailed like crazy. Most comicish characters to movie make a huge departure from the source material, but in some way remain the same. Ninja Turtles, Wolverine, Spider-man, they all looked different but you couldn't mistake them either. The same goes for Prime. He may be different in more ways than he's the same, but there's no denying he's Optimus Prime. His automorph feature is the only one that doesn't annoy me, in fact it's really cool.
Cons: Yellow eyes (blue would be more proper, I personally don't care). His arms/waist/leg wheels all clip to their respective parts, but don't hold well. Thus if you pick him up or move him he gets all floppy and comes undone.
Overall: 9.5/10 - I don't care about his minor problems, I only mark him down because $40+ just seems like way too much.

Leader Prime: IMHO, best of the best for the movie toys. Hefty, and solid. Transformation is complex yet logical after 2 times through. The sounds and lights, to me, are cheesy. Hwoever, the overall build quality totally makes up for it. I was at target and checked out Robo-vision prime. He's nice, but, if you have the money, don't even bother with robo-vision. He's smaller, less detailed, that big back-pack looks like OP is ready for summer school. 2 guns, well, you got me there, but, try taking a blast from the the big guy's CANNON. Leader Prime is THE MUST-HAVE for the movie line. 9.5 out of 10.

Blackout: #2 on my list of things to buy. I loved the concept pic I saw so many months ago. However, once I got this guy in my hands, I felt totally let down. Cool ALT mode, if you can ever get him back in it with out legs and heads popping out. Poor build quality. Good tabs where no tabs are needed, poor tabs / no tags where they desperately should be. This one went straight back to wal-mart. My $20 could be spent so much better. A shame. 4 out of 10. (Build quality- 2 out of 10.)

Baricade: Ok, for $10 you're doing pretty good in this range. That left arm is a pile of crap, please leave the worthless features in the trash bin next time.. however, that won't stop my love for his ALT mode- the evil cop car. His Robot form has that movie feel to it: bio-mechanical, yet still an old school edge. 8.5 out of 10.

Jazz: Robot form is simply great to look at. ALT mode needs BETTER PAINT, amongst some sloppy lines (is this a solstice??). Overall, with my personal nostalgia for jazz, I still give him a solid thumbs up. 8 out of 10.

I also just placed a nice online order for some things that caught my eye-- 20th ann. Optimus prime (the american masterpiece, and a great deal at amazon for $60), die-cast titanium 3" optimus, Robot Heroes Decepticon Sneak Attack (wal-mart exclusive), and Voyager Starscream (after reading the review near the beginning of this thread-- thanks, this should fill that Blackout Void!!).

I am totally looking forward to future waves- Leader Brawl, ultimate bumblebee (check those japanese videos!!), 08 deluxe Bumblebee, and some of those fixed form figures.

I feel like a kid again!

I'm also right with you in the '08 Bumblebee designs. The Japanese video of the Leader class makes it look sweet..EXCEPT...Please lord..don't make him sing Devo's 'Whip It Good'...again!!! Nooo!
I also already own the $60 20th Anniversary Prime. It's a nice figure for someone that never got the actual G1 Prime. I like it, but it's a little plain compared to some other Transformers out there. Still, it's a must have. (Hope that made sense.)

From the info gathered on this site, the '08 Camaro BB will arrive in wave two, along with Leader Megatron. When wave two itself arrives...I have no idea. My guess is JUST BEFORE July 4th. Just a guess, as I said.
