For those collectors that like something...a little different, the Transformers: Crossovers line offers that in spades and more. We now have new images of 2 new Marvel Transformers: Crossovers figures, Spider-man, who turns into a helicopter, and Ghost Rider, who turns into his iconic motorcycle. In addition, a new figure in the Star Wars Transformers: Crossovers line has been revealed, courtesy of D-Drive of TFW2005. The figure is largely out of scale with other figures of the line, considering it's a STAR DESTROYER. Yes, a Venator-Class Star Destroyer using the Clone Wars aesthetic and it transforms into a Clone Pilot.
Additionally, Hasbro has already provided pre-orders on Hasbrotoyshop.com for Ghost Rider and Spider-man.

The Spider-man figure is just the figure that was part of the 2-pack with Iron Man last year.

The new SW figure is an improvement, as the "bot" mode is chunky instead of lanky. But it's still a failure.
The Marvel ones are terrible looking.

When are they going to do G. I. Joe crossovers. Everybody has mashed the two together except the toy designers.

Not caring about scale since 1984. Just like Hasbro.

Oh, Testify!
TF characters, that become vehicles in-scale with GI Joes. Megatron as a HISS, Starscream as a Nightraven or Rattler, Prime as a...umm...one of them tanks or a Hummer, or even the truck from MASK since that's been in GI Joe now. It'd be brilliant to get a pack with Screamer and Cobra Commander. Oh, and we could get Joe versions of Spike, Daniel, Marissa (taking after her Granddad) and Old Snake.
Oooh, ooh, Baroness and Slipstream!
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.

They don't really even *need* to make new molds for GIJoe crossovers, there's plenty already that could use a redeco and some new accessories to work just fine. Example; repaint Snowcat and include a 3" joe figure. Who cares about scale, it's not like it's ever mattered much anyway!
As usual, the SW figures continue to look awful, while the Marvel ones look pretty good to acceptable. There HAS to be two separate design teams that work on these lines, I swear. They're just too different from each other other.

I made the mistake of buying a Magnaguard and the Y-Wing. They looked cool in the package to me somehow, but after opening them omg what pieces of poo. :----( Flimsy, awkward, won't stay transformed, kibble that won't stay on, etc.. I don't know how kids could play with these things without breaking em or loosing all the parts. The marvel ones arn't like that, they're more study, easier to transform and look better too.

I've really been enjoying the Star Wars: Transformers, but I preferred them before they started focusing on the Clone Wars...The transformations are becoming too simplistic, with big(ger), chunky pieces (try transforming the X-Wing, one of the earliest, I dare ya!
Having said that, I actually like the Magnaguard; it has a slick look to it). Yes, I want the Republic Star Destroyer, but I want them to release an Imperial Star Destroyer! And Home One/Admiral Ackbar!
Ah well, as long as I have the Death Star/Darth Vader! (Which is really quite awesome!)

Ghost Rider is ot too bad except for the left arm/ front axel of the bike mode.
Forgotten wrote::-x They need to just leave Ghost Rider out of this. Always has been my favorite Marvel Character(if not favorite altogether) first they make that GR transformable mech, now this. What blasphemy!
The transformable mech was not made by Hasbro, I believe that was Toy Biz when they had the license.
All in all these are very meh figures. Unless the Star Destroyer is really really big.
Big pass.

The Death Star Darth Vader is a really great figure. Lots of playvalue, it has awesome features. It is a very well thought out toy.
I might have to get the Ghost Rider. I don't have any Marvel crossovers so it will be my first.

That looks more like an ARC Trooper than a Clone Pilot to me...
As far as the SWTFs, I don't think it's inherently a bad idea to put the two together, but I think it was a bad idea to use SW characters for the robot modes.
TF characters - or new characters for that matter - would have granted them more flexibility in technical and aesthetic design, and would have captured both Star Wars fans (who have shown themselves willing to buy non-3.75"-scale figures in the past) and Transformers fans, who'd want new incarnations of favorite characters.
If you wanted to get really wild, you could release battlepacks that paired SWTFs with rereleases of old Action Fleet toys - e.g. Wedge Antilles in X-Wing vs. TIE Advanced Starscream! Luke & Dak in Snowspeeder vs. AT-AT Onslaught! Princess Leia in Y-Wing vs. Sandcrawler Longhaul! Or something like that.
Maybe there was something about their agreement with Lucas that prohibited that, though.

I have a Venom TF and in bot mode it just looks hideous. The muscle car, imo, is much better. As for the Spidey, yes it is the one from the two pack, which was re-released earlier this year, when Ironman2 came out. I saw it at my Walmarts.
Grails:
Bots: G1 Bumblebee; Balance of Aerialbots(I have Air Raid)
parts: Overload's arms. Wanted badly

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The SWTF are not hampered by making them into characters, they are hampered by the fact that the toy designers can't tweak the vehicle modes to get a properly proportioned mech mode. Most TF lines, the vehicles are not set in stone (exception: Binaltech, Alternators, Alternity obviously), but in these it seems the vehicle mode is the focus and the bot is whatever they could cram into it. That being said, the Star Destroyer SHOULD have been Ultra sized or bigger. That would certainly have given them some leeway on the bot mode and possibly allowed for the installation of some electronic gimmicks such as laser effects or light up engines. I'll wait to see it before I buy I it.
Ghost Rider I think is suffering from the same issue I mentioned above. Unlike the others, Ghost Rider is most definitely associated with a vehicle. In order to get the vehicle right, they had to make some sacrifices on the bot mode. That being said, $20 says it's mistransformed.

It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

Oh come on guys, GhostRider looks cool. He's not a huge muscular dude in the comics, so it dosn't really hurt that the figure looks a bit lanky. And at least he's not a shellformer (cough, Y-wing, cough) or covered in kibble (see entire SW line) and it looks like you could actually fiddle with the damn thing without it falling apart (cough, Magnaguard).
He also has freakin skulls on his knee caps, that's just kick a$$! And he's on fire! He looks like The Fallen too, dunno if anyone else has noticed that.
First-Aid:
The SW line (and some marvel, and TF in general) is hampered by bad design, period. I know what you're saying, but there's many examples of spot on vehicle modes that still have decent bot modes. I dunno, maybe not all the SW line is junk like the two I bought, but not from what I gather from photos.

Funny you should say that, because the SW:Ts are (obviously) set in an alternate Universe where characters' vehicles Transform into visages of the said characters; this is why they used to include little figures of the actual characters (apart from cost, I'm not sure why they stopped them when the mechs/vehicles are still able to accomodate the said figures).
You know, I always imagined that the SW:Ts were created in their SW Universe (especially with Jedi/Sith) with use of the Force combined with All-Spark power!

I've been compiling a scale list (largest to smallest) of the Film Transformers based on; vehicle/alternate modes (with the best dimension data possible), as many official charts I could find & most crucially, the figures I actually own & desire!
