Upgrades to figures
Upgrades to figures

I was thinking about this the other day when I was playing around with my son's Bakugan. With every new release they add some type of upgrade to the Bakugan. They've added battle gear, mobile assault vehicles, weapons and now they have these type of mech suits.
Just looking at this stuff got me wondering about how awesome it could be to have this in the TF world.

See, I was thinking of something more along the lines of what they did with Superhuman Samurai Cyber-Squad. You bought the base figure, but they had armor add-ons, which was just so cool IMO.
I was actually thinking of doing a custom one day with a 2007 movie Bumblebee, Ravage and ROTF Depthcharge. I was going to repaint BB with silver and black and use the parts of Ravage and Depthcharge for armor. I wanted it to be like a Decepticon trio with armor and weapons. Too bad the toys were my sons and I couldn't do it...

I'd be behind it, and if I liked what they offered, I'd get it. Thing is, the US doesn't seem to like to sell toys like this. They like to offer a complete package when it hits the shelves.
It's interesting bakugan has somewhat gone against this tradition, seems like a good sign to me.

That is what Hasbro should really be doing, not this same figure again sh*t but with rockets and a different gun!

They've been doing this crap for years. How many versions of Duke are out there? Cobra Commander? Not to mention the ridiculous amount of Movieverse Bumblebee variations.
Thing is, people will still buy the exact same figure for the new stuff. The new version might be limited in release and possibly be more valuable someday. I think that's why the third party addons do so well. If stuff like that were to be mass produced, I don't believe it would sell as well.
Would be neat to have that easily accessible, I just don't see it happening.

Same for me too. Things like Buster Optimus Prime's gun I want, but not enough to buy the same figure twice.
