well, he certainly doesn't bend at the arms, he's a combiner, they generally don't have the best articlulation for posing other than arms out like zombie

Honestly the energon combiners (yes this figure is an energon repaint) aren't all that bad compared to some of the older combiners. At least these new ones have hip and knee joints. The G1 gestalts rarely had more than a functioning shoulder joint.
Heck G1 devastator only has elbows because you have to add another peice to complete the arm. And he still has no leg joints. It would be nice if they could manage to build elbows into the gestalt arms without having a bunch of extra parts to finish the combined mode. But I wouldn't expect it.

Actually you can get quite a bit of articulation from him. The payloader will bend in the centre to give you an elbow and the hand is only attatched to the wrist, so that doesn't compromise anything. The crane is a little more involved. It can also pivot at a central point for an elbow but since the hand is attatched to the crane arm you have to adjust the piece that comes out from the front of the vehicle to support the crane arm to the right angle to make it look natural. With either vehicle used as a leg this isn't an issue as they only form the lower leg below the knee. Give it a try, you can achieve some surprisingly action oriented poses.

Yeah, Devy is to my mind the best of the E combiners just on the grounds of the articulation that you can get out of him. I know a lot of people have issues with them, and to be honest I do too, to an extent. Yes four different limb bots would have been preferable. Yes the clear weapon parts forming the hands and feet are less than ideal. But at the end of the day they're not that bad. Unless you count the powerlinx gimmick or the various Prime combinations these are the only gestalts that we've had since RiD. With the two new moulds there Rail Racer has to go down as the finest combiner of all time, certainly not something that I'm expecting to be beaten in a hurry, and Landfill is a great idea but the execution's a bit off. I count the RiD combiners as a high point to date, so whatever came next was always going to look a touch shoddy in comparison. I do have a soft spot for the Energon moulds though and honestly believe that they should get more love than they do. Let's see what they do with the new combiner that Hasbro mentioned at Botcon, hell it might even surpass the trains.
