I wouldn't midn seeing a nod to Animate dhere and there. I would actually like to see a reference to Sari in which we see Sama nd Mikaela'a daughter at the end of the third one( yes I'm skipping ahead storywise) and she resembles a bit of Sari. Just a thought. Unless there's an embargo thing going on.

I'm still angered by the sex joking and all of the excessive language. I could live with the language because I know for a fact that if Barricade was chasing me, first I'd say it, then I'd do it!
The sex thing was absolutely unnecessary.

Seconded,
and all the way around agree with what I've read so far.

Honestly though why would it ? perhaps a nod or two to TFA but the first movie was practically a total departure in a lot of ways and I welcome the changes made, if it were not for them it would have done half as well at best if not less than that.
I'm not worried.

But really Autobot032, the first movie didn't already have solid action and great one liners? As for the clever writing no the movie wasn't brilliant if anything it was brilliant fun, but some of what the Decepticons did do, like Starscream and Frenzy, were celever on their fighting and hiding. As for great characters, while you and plenty here would disagree with me entirely, I actually thought they were great, while nothing new to be exact, but enjoyable and lovable. All except for Simmons but he's fun to watch.

To each their own though.
Oh don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the first film. I saw it three times at the drive in, and own it on DVD. A lot of it I did like, but after I saw the quality of Animated, I realized that the Movie left a lot to be desired.
Such as:
-Character building. (All of the characters, human and machine could've used more backstory.)
-Less camera shake. (Good scenes ruined by the whole "We're trying to make it feel like you're in the scene!" camera work.)
-More robot screen time. (I realize it was a million plus for every scene they were in (or was it frame?) and that it was about a boy and his car, but they needed far more screen time.)
-Less foul stuff. (This is a family oriented property. The scene in Sam's bedroom, having the conversation with his mom was absolutely unnecessary. The language wasn't terrible, but there could've been less. Call me a prude (again) but Animated proved that you could have enjoyable quality without going to excess.)
Is Animated the cure all? Of course not. Could the Movie learn a bit from the series? Sure could.
I'm not sure why my stance on this is considered to be so terrible, but oh well.

Backstory I would agree on since I really wanted to know more about Mikaela's past and Banacheck, but alas this sort of film was one that was fast and to the point if you read the script or novelization of it. But for the human and robots current status as characters I again found them, enjoyable and lovable and saw enough development of their perosnalities and through the visual information gathered as well as good looks into some of their niches. The kids are alright here.
-Less camera shake.
I didn't mind Michael Bay's "Bay-hem" style of things in the action scenes but I guess that would be because I'm use dot stylish action scenes but hey at least Paul Greengrass didn't direct, huh?
More robot screentime.
I see you're point Autobot032 and I as well was dissapointed by the lack of screentime for the bots but we both know that the budget iot what held them back and the writing team of Orci & Kurtzman are also dissapointed by this including Bay, hopefully the sequel will have much more robot screentime. As for the first film's screentime for the bots while things weren't entirely strecthed out we got good enough glimpses of their personalities which made them likable and dislikable. I maybe in the minority but I actually felt the Decepticons got enough screen time, their introduction scene when Frenzy contacts Starscream gave me a presence of their strength and power as a unit to make me concerned enough to be worried about both our human and robot characters. My family and freinds also felt the same way for the bots( especially for Bumble Bee) and I'm sure quite a few did. Funny thing, I read the novelization before seeing the movie as well as the comic book adaptation of the film and even though I knew the outcome I was still enagged and was oncerned for not only the humans but especially the bots, I got nervous and hoped Prime and Bumble Bee didn't get hurt and didn't want Jazz to die.
Less foul stuff
I found those scenes to be quite funny actually. As said in my previous post it gave off this juvenille feel for me but that is just me alone. I see you're point on it being family oriented material but the question is how many families were that mad at the film? I've met plenty of kids and know plenty of parents who liked/loved the film and haven't heard any complaints coming from them personally so I don't know. But correct me if I'm wrong but didn't scrrenings for the movie, I think prior to before it was released, say it tested wlel with kids and got the "it's okay for the kids" sign from parents who went to those screenings?
I personally am just fine with how this movie turned out, it lacked, but it was good for what it was and I don't see why for the future it needs to learn from others to be a good series on it's own. I like both Animated and the 2007 movie equally as well as most other TF incarnations. To me there is no defiante version, all have their own charms and are good for their own reasons.
All in all to each thier own.

Meh... to be honest, it's not that I consider it "foul" as much as overused and childish. I only saw the IMAX version so I don't know if the regular release was the same, but I certainly found myself peeking at my watch and cringing with embarrassment for the franchise while we sat through an interminable scene in which Sam's mom tried to find as many euphemisms for masturbation as possible while the Autobots bumbled clumsily around outside, breaking stuff and generally being incompetent.

I think that would be kinda awesome!

My dad laughed his as off at the "Foul stuff" like the masturbation thing, and Bumblebee pissing on Simmons, and he generally doesn't go for that kind of humor.

Still, like I said in my first post on this thread, it would be cool to see a little girl resemble a bit of Sari, ( I'll say my idea again) maybe in a future sequence where we meet Sama nd Mikaela's daughter. One difference would be that the girl doesn't look indian, or whatever country Isaac Sumdac is native to. She'd be all American white.

There was no sex in the movie. If you're refering to Sam and Carly (I only call her that because it's easier to spell) kissing on Bumblebee's hood, that's not sex.
Now if they were in his back seat, that'd be a different story.
