Maybe this movie won't be a success after all?

Face it, teenagers (the target audience of the film, mind you) will be EMBARASSED to go to a Transformers movie. Think about it.
Teenagers seems to hate everything they liked during their childhood. And if they did, they'd be labelled "uncool" or "nerdy" or other such terms. They'd be sacrificing their status at school if they saw this movie. And not many teens would be willing to do so.
"Dude, Transformers is like totally for kids."
"Like, really. They're like saying it's gonna be all cool but it's based on like a kiddie show or something."
"Yeah, don't you remember watching that? It was so stupid"
"Dude, you wanna watch a movie about toys? Haha, whatever. Go and be like a nerd or something."
"Shia Labeouf? Isn't he that guy from that 'Even Steven's' show? Haha what an idiot."
"Meghan Fox? Who the hell is that? Oh yeah, she's hot, but Transformers is so lame. It's not worth it."
"Huh? I haven't seen any advertisements on TV for it. It must be stupid if they're afraid to shoe clips from it."
"Dude, why would we watch a movie a bunch of thirty year olds with no life are going to watch?"
Hasbro is (in theory) screwed.

Given the amount of activity on this board alone, I think we outnumber them.
Life can be pretty sweet when your alt-mode is a B-2 Stealth Bomber.

Um, I'm not sure what age you are, but you're completely wrong. If teenagers like myself (17) and almost all of my friends went to see the X-men, Spiderman, and Pirates movies, Transformers will be no stretch.

Teenagers aren't going to remember G1. The only people I've talked to have piped up about Beast Wars being cool, so I don't think that's going to be a problem. That, and teenagers, like all people, suffer from nostalgia.

That's just silly. Have you seen how many T.V. spots are posted on this site alone? There has been plenty of exposure.

I'm not sure the average teenager knows about Botcons and the fanbase Transformers has, and even if they did, it really wouldn't make that much of a difference.

People who are now teens watched RID or Armada, not G1.

Many of my friends and I myself have rarely if ever seen the TV spots.

True.

Well aren't you all sorts of wrong. As long as the movie has explosions, a modern soundtrack, references to popular media, a hot girl or two, and other random action scenes it'll always appeal to teens.
As a teen myself [18] and fresh out of high school I think I know the age range in question pretty damn well, well enough to know what I just said has some pretty good backing.

What about the teenies that aren't in the know? They'd make the assumption that it's a stupid kiddie movie.

I believe I count as having them mentality of an avergaGE teen.
So far, outside the boards I've only heard praise and excitment for the film. All my friends want to see it with me and even my manager at work wants to see it.
Face it: Transformers will be the biggest movie this summer. Quote me on it if ya want.

It's a matter of seeing the reality being more important than your hopes. I HOPE that teens see that it's a great film, but the REALITY is that some just won't be at the theater. And if they are, they'd be watching Live Free or Die Hard.

Have you seen the TV spots? All they focus on are explosion and action scenes, teens love that crap. It is the reason we are getting all these comic movies. Comics are inherently nerdy but throw in a hot girl and fight scenes and the teens'll eat it right up.
I've told all my friends how the story will be all sorts of suck but they don't care, they want to see the fights and giant robots. They could give a crap about the story at all.

I have had a lot of people from the age range of 13-45 tell me they want to see this movie. People who used to care less about Transformers. It feels good to be a transfan right now.

As a Junior High School teacher, I talk to people between the ages of 10 and 70 on a regular basis. ALL of them are looking forward to this movie.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE ONES THAT HAVEN'T???
THAT'S what I'm trying to get across. The ones that have no idea this film exists. Ones that aren't on the internet much. The "cool" crowd. If they don't see the movie, nobody else will, since they follow the system of what's "cool" and "not cool." And I know the toyline will be an immense failure. The game will sell more copies than the toys. You can quote me on that. Nobody, not even LITTLE kids, plays with toys anymore. Entertainment for youngsters is video games.

I understand but they know what a PG-13 rating is also! Everbody went to see the Spider-Man movies! THis movie is gonna be a blockbuster!Salazaar wrote:Bottom Out wrote:sorry but your wrong, all your points are wrong...

Yeah I never understand that! Why would u force your self to not like something that u might like just because somebody would think u would be "uncool" and dumb for going to see something that might childish in their eyes! I mean br yourself!Screambug wrote:Such teens you're talking about will have to outgrow their arrogance first.

I don't know that the average teen finds X-Men or Spiderman to be necessarily geekier than Transformers.
Regardless of what the general population of teenagers think of this movie, I still think its drawn enough of a crowd to make it a success.
