OK i guess I'll be the one to say this...Thunderwing looks like ****. Really he does. I'll get the other two even though they are repaints, but its going to take something really special to make me want to pick up a busted wanna-be seeker looking mold. And dont get me wrong I like the character. I had the original toy, this new just looks like crap.

If we get a gallery and the robot looks good I might think about it...but the jet mode looks terrible, also he should have been a Voyager size at least. But i guess it all depends on the robot mode, I just wasnt too impressed with the first robot mode shot we saw...


My thoughts pretty much, with the exception of getting Skullgrin and having the original Thunderwing. Maybe the release of this will drive the original's prices down a bit on eBay and I can afford one. Or, if Ryan does a gallery on him and he looks somewhat impressive in real robot mode, I might reconsider.

Ok i wish it would stop editing my posts for me. I agree if the robot mode is nice i Might get him and just never transform him back into a plane. But thats a big if...

Honestly Thunderwing is the only one out of these three figures I want. I mean I actually hated the character, I always thought he was another MATRIX obsessed decepticons that looked decent. But the more I learn about him, the more I've come to love him. I will definently be getting him even though he is only deluxe class.

Just got Straxus, love him to bits already and Skullgrin's Japanese counterpart Dauros/Dowlos/Whatever was my favourite Masterforce character, I only wish the retooled head captured even a little of his expressiveness...

Skullgrin looks way better than Darkmount with better colors. Ill buy the plane because I like seekers, but he is nothing special.

Thunderwing is not a Seeker. A plane mode does not a Seeker make.

You needn't nitpick every comment anyone makes that might be construed as incorrect, JelZe (especially when the term 'seeker' is so open to personal [and canonical] interpretation!), it'll only discourage people from expressing their personal opinions...

I'm not really one to be known as the ball busting, nit picker on this site but a "seeker" is a unit that falls under Starscreams command and has a airborne alt mode. Thunderwing was never under Starscream, rather in an entirely different part of the Decepticon hierarchy. Phase sixers like Thunderwing, Sixshot, Blue Baccus (which will be an obvious Botcon repaint), and Overlord are well and above Starscreams fleet of soldiers.

But hey, if you want him as a seeker then by crumb you make him be a seeker!

Man, that m&m comment really spoiled Cliffjum&mper for me. I'll never look at that figure or BB the same again.

Thunderwing's nose looks really goofy. Is that suppose to be an air intake, is that why it's shaped like that? Maybe it it is, but it winds up making him look super deformed or a victim of child safety proofing. It's nice to do something different, but it should have been shaped another way, maybe blunted instead of rounded, for example.

Umm, why are we all talking like this is the first time we've seen these figures again?? Hehe.

I love the fact that the conversion levels are more accurate now than just being based on price point, but still... ouch.

Lol, I agree, if Rated X wants to call him a seeker then that should be his choice. I'm personally a huge stickler for Transformers-related minutia, but I like the fact that most users are here because they like transforming robot toys and aren't sad enough to have read most of TFWIKI like me

PS I think Gen. Thunderwing looks ace, they really captured the G1 shell's look in a way that Skullgrin's new head doesn't IMO.
I'm just wondering, given that level of specific moulded detail, what he'll be repainted/retooled into. Any ideas other than Black Shadow, who likely isn't well-known enough in the west to justify doing (although if Takara make him I'll be over th'moon)?
