joesaysso wrote:As an innocent bystander, on the outside looking in at this thread, I would like to say; from page 1 until now, this is absolutely one of the stupidest threads I have ever read in any forum that I have ever been in. Ever.
Firstly, it was an opinionated question from the get-go. However, it was clear from the very second post of the thread that the OP was not going to respect or allow anybody else's opinion but his own because he responded aggressively against the very first response that went against his opinion. Those of you who contributed to this thread after that only encouraged and escalated this atrocity of a thread.
Secondly, arguing over Australian economy and laws is so stupidly off-topic to the original question that its ridiculous. The original topic boils down to a simple yes or no question. "Would you be happy if Hasbro did this........?" Yes or no? Some of you may have convinced yourself that this is part of the main point but I assure you, if you are talking about Austrailian taxes, you've gone too far off the course.
Thirdly, Deathy arguing that its "quality over quantity" is insinuating that there is no "quality" in any of the other lines. This is utterly absurd. Why anybody even responded to any of his posts beyond the opening one is beyond me. The topic itself, while slightly thought provoking, is dumb. Why? Because no collector wants less of what they collect. Why collect it then? Deathy says that he "doesn't collect transformers to fill a room" then why does he collect? Nobody collects transformers to fill a room. They buy what they like and the room filling up naturally happens as a ripple effect of the collecting. Eventually Deathy, one of your rooms would fill up if Hasbro made all of those MPs on your list in the beginning and you bought them all.
Fourthly, I love a good argument as much as the next person. Believe me, I love to argue. But I like to argue with valid points and actually possible scenarios. Sadly, there isn't one valid point in anything you people are debating. First of all, again, the original topic is stupid. And its not stupid because I think its stupid. No, its stupid because it isn't practical for anybody involved and can't feasibly happen under any circumstances that weren't strictly hypothetical. Its not practical for Has/Tak to produce 10 MPs a year. Its not practical for stores to stock 10 MPs a year, and its not practical for 7 year old kids to buy 10 MPs a year. Anybody who wastes their time arguing for this scenario is dumb. And anybody who argues with the idiot who argues for this scenario is also dumb.
Allow me to demonstrate for you all how this thread should have gone:
Deathy: What if hasbro/takara just released 10 MP TF toys per year & that's it,would you be happy or upset?
Joe: I would be very displeased.
Deathy: Why? MPs are so awesome! I love them. I'd rather have 10 awesome transformers a year than a bunch of junky, simple ones. You don't want that?
Joe: MPs are awesome, yeah. I'd love that! But I also enjoy the simplicity and diversity that the other lines provide to my collection. Its kind of cool that the classics provide a nice contrast to the MPs while almost looking like they could be in the same line. It really makes my collection look great.
Deathy: Well, I don't collect transformers to fill a room.
Joe: Neither do I. I believe in quality over quantity too. Thats why I buy only the ones that I really enjoy. The filling of the room kind of happens on its own. You don't think that you'll eventually have enough MPs to fill a room?
Deathy: Well.........touchee........
Joe: ............
Deathy: But what if Austrailia put tax breaks on the companies who made and sold the toys so they were cheaper? What about it then?
Joe: What?
Deathy: I don't know.
You are all welcome for that performance. Now really, there is nothing more to be said on this topic. I fear we all have lost some intelligence quotient for participating in this thread. Some of us cannot afford to lose much more. Lets go all go back to our holes until somebody finds a topic that people can actually argue smartly about.
Joe,your recap of the thread is way off & way oppossite.
Here's how it went down step by step:
I asked would various TF fans like 10 MP TF toys per year.
In the beginning of the thread most stated the prices were too high.
I then said only if your buying the takara versions. the hasbro versions are cheaper priced about the price of AEC leaders & supreme sized TF toys. since the MP TF toys are big, paying on average from $40 to $60 wasn't a bad deal.
Then someone said the austrailan prices were high for everything TF toys.
I stated this wasn't hasbro's/takara's fault,as hasbro sells these MP TF toys to austraila for cheap.
Others complained about austraila taking the thread off topic.
Eventually the thread went back on track.
for a few pages, their was a interesting debate on quanity verses quality. some preferred to grab a whole room full of cheaper priced smaller TF toys. while others were more selective & prefered to go with higher quality TF toys in less volume units.
Then some were giving experience opinions based on TF MP toys they never played with.
I stated my opinion on that matter.
thee end.
I wasn't trying to argue in this thread & shoot everyone's idea down.
since this is a discussion board. I figured I'd do a little debatting within the thread. I didn't call no one names, didn't curse at anyone. I wasn't using all caps. I acted politely & debated in a professional manner. I wasn't the one who kept taking the thread off topic a few times, others were.
might I add that Joe did insult me a few times in this thread. by calling me & this thread stupid almost a dozen times. their were also other demeanig & insulting words joe used in this thread in his reply.
Sorry,If I upset everyone in this thread,it wasn't my intent. I'll be leaving this forum for a while & i'll post elsewhere.
