- Weapon: Switch Blade Tail
This was a horrible shopping experience, honestly.
If it wasn't for having the DPCIs and Target employees willing to break the date, I'd have had hell trying to get what I wanted.
10:30 AM: Meadville Wal-Mart has the Legends 3-Packs out, a handful of Deluxes, no Leaders, no Voyagers, but they do have a giant cardboard cut out of Optimus standing over top the display. Cool.
10:45 AM: Meadville K-Mart has ONE case of Voyagers and they have no idea where they are in the back, they have nothing else. Nothing.
11:30 AM: Erie Toys R Us has wave 1 Voyagers, waves 1 and 2 Deluxes and Cyberverses. Plus a couple of those Gravity Bot like things...
12:00 PM: Erie Target had just begun putting out their stock and wasn't even close to being done. Wave 1 of everything. EVERYTHING. Their Sentinel Prime is missing his shield, don't buy him.
The trip to TRU was fruitful because I netted Powerglide and they were the only ones to have him. Still...80 mile round trip for a $8.00 figure stings like you wouldn't believe.
1:30 PM: Meadville Wal-Mart...they released the mother lode. All wave 1 and 2 Voyagers released, grabbed one of the two Shockwaves in stock. One of the helicopter guy is left, the rest are wave 1's.
I asked around about why the different stores didn't have this or that, and here was their response:
"Hasbro shortchanged us. We were to receive 2-3 pallets of these things and we ended up getting about 5-6 cases of different sizes. That's it. And we're mad, because we're losing sales. We've seen people come into the aisle, grab one or two, or nothing at all. Because we have next to nothing on the shelves."
TRU, Wal-Mart (x3) more or less, almost word for word in that quoted piece. If your store hasn't put them out, it's possible that they don't have any.
I asked why they weren't out at midnight, and mentioned that they were street dated, and the manager at Wal-Mart said "This time is different. We had a do not sell order on these until today, but unlike the last two movies, there's no order to have them out today. They told us we're welcome to wait until our resets are complete, or we can find space for them. I know you want them, and we want to sell them, but we're not being forced to this time, so we're taking our time and finishing the reset."
So, bottom line is this:
They couldn't sell them before the date, but they also don't have to sell them on this date.
Some stores are getting shortchanged with their shipments, just as BBTS had been recently with RTS and Generations.
So, something's not right on Hasbro's end. No big push, a weekday release, no midnight release, no special events, just put the figures out when you feel like it.
I dunno, I didn't like having to drive all over to find these figures. It was one thing when I was getting them early and the excitement was just gnawing at me, but now that it's release day and I can't find 'em? Oh hell no.
I'm still mad.
