Ah, the wonders of low cost factories.
As you might have already read elsewhere, I've got different QC problems on my MP-10, mostly cosmetic, though. Air bubble in the chest plate for the first one, while the replacement has black paint on the top of the chest and a ridiculously thin coat of red paint on the sides of the front grill.
Seriously, with the kind of money they're asking for the fig, and I'm NOT complaining about the price, the least they could do is buck up on their QC.
Either the new Vietnamese factories are still trying to get their act together, or the rush to get the stock ready for the release date just caused the QC to get flung out the window.

I'm waiting to see what Hasbro gives us. I can't justify the cost of this fella to myself. Especially since over half of his stuff would just sit in the box in my closet. I'd pay $70-$80 tops for the figure and gun alone.

Mine has the stress marks on the chest, the legs don't quite stay together in truck mode, and the right shoulder's a bit loose, but it's still pretty good.

I am having the same problem - but I am guessing that I must not have things lined up just right.

I think I am done with the Takara Masterpiece line which is a shame. From now on I'll only be getting the Hasbro versions. They will have had time to fix any QC or mold issues pointed out by those who buy the first release of the Takara versions....which isnt really how faults should be found. Its not like Windows where a free update can be released.

My guess is based off MP-09. Hasbro releases a fixed version. then Takara Releases another fixed version called version 2.0. then hong kong releases a hybrid version of fixed & not fixed stuff like they recently did with MP-09 version 2.0.

Transformers toys have never been made in japan. These days more than 75% of stuff gets made in the China region part of the world. that's why china's population, army & jobs employment are so high.

True, but in the case of MP-10, it was made in Vietnam. Something to do with the rising cost of labor there, or so I've heard. This might just be just me, but the MP line has seen at least marginally better quality when they were made in China. And coincidentally after moving to Vietnam, MP-10 suffered from a plethora of QC issues.
IIRC, the past complaints about MP-1 to -9 was mostly regarding design flaws and the materials used [Megatron's potentially tarnishing parts].
I realize that the non-MP TF's have suffered from off-and-on poor QC in Chinese factories, but such things are NOT acceptable in such an expensive line.

I think other MP have had some issues too in China. MP Skywarp and Thundercracker have their vents installed on backwards.

Yeah, totally forgot about that. But if Vietnamese factories aren't any worse than those in China, they certainly haven't improved any.
Either way, I just wonder what it would take to get those factories to get their sh!t together and improve their QC.

A lawsuit. If those backwards vents caused you harm or trauma then sue the factory. I spend too much time watching Boston Legal.

I've just opened mine. I don't have any QC issues. His ankles are a bit floppy but he can stand and hold poses. You could take the screw out and put a few pieces of paper in so the screw can go tighter.

Lawsuits are expensive, and usually favor the large companies since they have the money to burn. They simply outlast the other guy by stalling for time and wait until he/she run out of funds.
I'm not saying that's always the case, but it's a common tactic.

That wouldn't be an issue with Alan Shaw on your side.

Pardon my ignorance, but who's Alan Shaw? Although I have a feeling he's a character in Boston Legal (never watched the show, though).

The first release of MP-09 Hot Rod / Rodimus Prime had many design flaws. Hasbro released a version (without the trailer) that didn't really fix anything, then Takara released another version that supposedly DOES fix the problems but costs quite a bit more.

There are a few very fragile parts on this figure. The hinge on the back of roller was broken out of the box and the articulated finger on oone heand has already broken due to the paper thin plastic hinge. sigh....
I was about to post in defense of this figure because it really is terrific. Not nearly as bad as the problems with the first Rodimus. Even so, at $200+ I expect the figure to not be broken in two places within a day.

Wow, that sucks. Mine is still fine and he's had enough play to wear some of the chrome off. It's easy to pop a finger off but nothing is broken.

Given how Japan is suffering a power shortage due to the Fukushima shutdown, don't expect anything being made in Japan anymore.
As for China, the long "abused" workers are now asking for more pay so..........
Higher petrol prices........higher costs of plastics.
Going green(remember, green energy costs higher people)in China(
), just joking, but in China, most of their electrical grid run on sooooooooooo environmentally "friendly" coal but costs are rising too, so electricity is starting to cost more, what with the green lobby breathing on China's neck via other means (WTO etc)
Congress going for the "undervalued" Chinese currency, so Takara probably had no choice but to move some of their more expensive product.......to Vietnam
, though iirc, Powermaster Optimus Prime(not the Ginrai version) was made in Thailand, so this isn't the 1st time Takara/Hasbro out sourced their product...........
QC is indeed the hurting part of this product, for such price levels you'd expect more careful implementation I'd grant you that. Heck if it isn't the design flaw, its QC........sh*t!
