25 years ago. Best Christmas EVER. G1 Transformers was at its peak. My dad left the military that year for a good job at IBM. I just got Trypticon for my 8th birthday that November and was more enamored with TFs than ever, still on a high from seeing the movie in the theaters that August and loving the new direction season 3 was taking the mythology every weekday after school. I absolutely could not WAIT for Santa. My TF obsession was at its height and I was primed for Christmas. It was so bad I broke out in hives during Christmas Eve mass and had to be taken home to get an oatmeal bath. As high as my hopes were, and after a sleepless night, Christmas morning was an absolute out of body experience for me. I probably wouldn't have been considered a spoiled kid when it came to toys. I might get one for a good report card then a couple on my birthday. But Christmas morning I found myself tearing into a SHARKTICON, GALVATRON, CYCLONUS, KUP, RODIMUS PRIME, and even WHEELIE! In all their plastic '80's neon glory! It was an absolute heaven that only my fellow forumites could understand. I still get a huge grin on my face and chills down my arm every time I think about it. It reminds me that I need to thank my parents again for giving me such a happy childhood. It makes me want to be the best father I can be for my one year old daughter and give her the happiest childhood possible.
Life is good.

1984. Got Hound for Christmas. I hadn't seen anything about Transformers anywhere. My parents had found it in a shop and bought it not knowing if I'd like it. Little did they know it would change my life forever! I was utterly amazed by the toy but at the same time disappointed that it was the only one I'd get that year. They made up for it in future Christmases though.
The two Christmases that really stand out after that would be the one in which I got Metroplex (I knew where presents were hidden and I'd creep in whenever my parents were out to look at his box) and the following year when I got Skorponok. He was so damned big and had so many accessories!
Oh wait, there was that other year when they told me I could have either Optimus Prime or Megatron but they couldn't afford both. I changed my mind so many times over which one I wanted that they somehow found the money to get both. I have great parents. You know what? I'm going to go and tell them how grateful I am right now!

I envy you guys. Never had that Transformers moment back in the 80s because they were soooooooooo expensive for my parents to buy.
Well, I'm replicating that moment now with my upcoming purchases from online stores and ebay.

I cant recall which Transformers i had but i can remember having Rocklords i had a green snake, a two headed guy ,a purple dinosaur and fluffy pig thing, i dont know why i can remember these and not the others.
EDIT. i think with the transformers been in the shadow of so much other fantastic stuff plays a big part of why i cant get enough now,
its the only childhood line ive touched out of all the reboots .

I remember getting Rodimus Prime, metroplex and Blurr after the movie came out. I found Metroplex under my mother's bed.

Not caring about scale since 1984. Just like Hasbro.

I didn't have 'em eitherBut for different reasons - I was too little when G1 was on air... though my brother, who's several years old older, never got any either and he watched the show.
I've never actually gotten Transformer toys for x-mas, but that's gonna change this yearOnly because I bought them and my family members paid me back & took 'em away. Lol. We'll see if they'll surprise me with other ones but I'm not getting my hopes to high. Haha. I'm just happy knowing I'm getting a few, even if I was the one who originally pick them up.
At least you know you're getting the ones you want!
