40 New Generations - What would you want?
rather than pretend to know what Hasbro is doing, how about we amuse ourselves by making up our own lists of 40 most wanted...
I'd suggest that we are going to see some repaints in this line. Likely some of the last run of Gen toys that had alternate heads will be released with those heads, and there's obviously the option for some re-releases and straight repaints. Lets say that each list should have 10 reuses of molds, be they existing ones, or ones you'd have made new, and then repainted. Lets also limit it to Deluxe class, as the last Generations line was, and there's been no indication so far that other lines will include larger figures designed to fit with the primarily Classics aesthetics of Generations.
I would say though that as we've seen with Beast Wars and some non-G1 figures getting the Classics treatment that it is acceptable to have characters from any and all of the Transformers universes, besides Prime, since that's already got a whole line of its own.
List away people:

The rest of the main G1 Combiners.
Menasor - 5
Superion - 5
Defensor - 5
Predaking - 5
Computron - 5
Abominus - 5
Yes, I realize most of these won't happen, due to various re-releases and such, but it would be nice to have them all the same scale and style. If any do get made, it would most likely be Superion and maybe Menasor.
And of course, the Dinobots. All 5 of them.
Also, Ultra Magnus (NOT a RTS G2 repaint!!!)
Blitzwing (long overdue 2nded)
If the already revealed toys are added, it's more than 40. But we can dream...

Honestly, that ROTF Scout Beachcomber was a better likeness than the Legends one.
While I think Hoist would come if they ever did a Trailbreaker/Cutter, I'm happy with ROTF Hoist in that role for now.

Out of everything we don't have representation of in any way (including 3rd party products) my shortlist includes:
Dinobots (or at least the last 4 of them)
Sunstorm (even though I have both KO versions, I'd rather have the real deal)
Blitzwing
and a combining Stunticon set. Hey, we're getting a combining Bruticus, so I'll dare to dream on this one!

Re: 40 New Generations - What would you want?
To put out 40 figures it's not going to be all deluxes, might be a few bigger figures but I'm guessing most will be the smaller size classes. Given that, I'd kind of like to see what HasTak can come up with in the way of Insecticons at commander size. I've got the Causality guys and they look great with the likes of Henkei Megs and the MP Seekers but they are bigger than I'd hoped for, as I was wanting something that looked good alongside the Classics Seeker mould and commander sizing would fit the bill (plus be cheap enough to troop build
). I'd happily take the season 1 guys, Diaclone repaints and retools/different moulds for the Deluxe Insecticons too. Maybe Runabout and Runamuck (sharing a mould) at commander size too? Although this next batch of Generations might be too soon after the club releases to do main line versions.
Blitzwing is sorely needed at deluxe scale to match Astrotrain and Octane/Tankor. Even if we ended up with a less than awesome toy I'd still be looking at grabbing a shiny TT version for Blitzwing and a half dozen Hasbro offerings as Blitzkrieg drones. Throw in an Overcharge repaint and I'd probably consider troop building a squad of those too.
Official versions of the MTMTE Rainmakers and purple generic Seekers would be nice (and perversely cheaper than the KOs) although probably unlikely. The Classics Seeker mould must already have about as many variant releases as just about anything in TF history. In either case 3 packs would make sense, although I'm not sure Hasbro would be confident of 3 of the same mould as a set selling well, even if they have given us a 3 pack of the same character with that 'perennial favourite' Bumblebee before today.
My wishlist is really all about the smaller scaled 'cons (tanks and jets at deluxe scale) as it's this subset of figures that I'm really trying to use to show off the Decepticons as an army rather than a rag tag gang.

Re: 40 New Generations - What would you want?
I'm gonna be in the minority on this but:
All of the Headmasters. Especially Brainstorm, Chromedome and Snapdragon. Highbrow and Mindwipe from the movieverse really don't count. I know the instructions for Warpath showed a Hardhead head so there's that.
All of the original character Targetmasters. We've seen the five that were from previous years but what about the other six? (Cybertron Slugslinger again doesn't count)
The Autobot Powermasters. Movieverse Breakaway was a great homage to Getaway, I'd love to see a Joyride and Slapdash to go with him.
Rotorstorm. And a Classics-style Ironfist. Also Snare, Flash, Boss and Flame from the late Euro-only era.
Armada Sideways. He was a fantastically original and creepy character and a figure of him with elbows and knees would be great.

The Dinobots. Everyone knows robot dinosaurs sell well. I can't seem them passing up the oppurtunity to make at least Grimlock with his FoC design.
Ironfist. After LSotW, who doesn't want an updated version of him?
For that matter, everyone from LSotW.
Broadside. He would be terribly out of scale as a Deluxe, but he hasn't had a new figure made of him at all.
A reissue of Classics Skywarp.
Sunstorm, since the Classics Seeker mold can't be used without making at least two of them.
Roadbuster. Could easily be retooled from Ironfist.
Personally I want to see a Classics-styled movie Leadfoot.

I agree with this and add in the Pretenders as well. Have the Pretender shells be a bit poseable and some detail to the figures would be nice. I also think that since Runabout and Runamuck were given proper figures that weren't complete bricks, then the same should be done for the Duocons, the Throttlebots and the Jumpstarters.

I's love to see the Throttlebots done with posability. Even if they were just retools of Classics Bumblebee it would be cool.Mat001 wrote:Diem wrote:I'm gonna be in the minority on this but:

Re: 40 New Generations - What would you want?
Okay, there's a definite argument for there being smaller size classes included. I'd hope we don't see any Legends being passed off as Generations, unless they're able to find a way to make the former-Casseticons work with modern alt-modes, and a deluxe Soundwave (or voyager) to interact with them.
I could live with a bunch of Commander/Scout class guys though.
I'll second the call for Headmasters and Targetmasters. Not sure how the Headmaster gimmick would look if it was a minicon-size head on a deluxe size body though. I'd probably be mostly okay with just the TF characters themselves, to be honest. Would love a Needlenose, Spinister, Chromedome, Brainstorm, Mindwipe, Hardhead (I'm not really a fan of the Universe/IDW look) etc, etc. It wouldn't even bother me too much if the Headmasters were changed to be more like PCCs, with the little buys just being add-on Minicons instead of the heads. Would make a new type of Fort Max more appealing.
I'd like to see more Pretenders characters. Wouldn't have to be actual Pretenders so to speak, the way Thunderwing, Skullgrin and Bludgeon have turned out has been fine. I'd love a Catilla, Carnivac, Stanglehold and Octopunch to add to my collection. Stranglehold could be a tank of some kind, and Octopunch a submarine, or even an octopus.
Dinobots, be they WFC/FOC inspired or not would be good. I'd actually be quite happy with a pre-Swoop version of him as Divebomb, from the G1 comic flashback story. That was a pretty cool alt-mode. I use MP Grimmy for my Classics version, a deluxe would be too small IMO, but voyager would work much better in robot mode. Snarl and Sludge are the only two I can't see selling that well.
Predacons...Razorclaw and his guys...would be very welcome too. This would be my preferred follow-up to the Bruticus combiner. And I've said it before, and I'll say it again, there are more than a few repaint options for them.
I'm more than familiar with losing out on toys late in a line due to distribution here in the UK, and whilst I personally have no interest in movie Soundwave, Que or those guys, it would be nice for people who do collect movieverse stuff to be able to get these, so I'd definitely stick them in the Gen line, if there's to be no Movie Trilogy line. Of course, they might keep them til TF4, but that's a long time to wait.
Last oddball choice is to do some more HA basics priced as deluxes for the Generations line. They needn't even be true HA toys, but I'd like to see HA human figures of the G1 toon humans. Spike, Daniel, Marissa, Dr. Arkeville, etc.
edit: SCRATCH THAT - Last oddball choice is more transforming versions of Action Master only characters. I want a Roll-Out that transforms dammit!
