* People who won't except a character's personality or arc just because it's different from a completely unrelated medium of storytelling. AKA Geewunners.
* Speaking of G1, that entire series is an atrocity.
* You can't take many Predacon deaths seriously in Beast Wars thanks to the overuse of slapstick.
* The Age of Extinction Toyline.
* Most of the Beast Hunters Toyline.
* Arcee's "incognito" character development in Transformers Prime
* Optimus Prime not having an ounce of interesting character whatsoever in any of the Transformers cartoons. Seriously, look at this ****:

* G1: Bland leader with only an acute sense of humor on his side
* Beast Wars (Primal): Bland leader with only an acute sense of humor on his side
* Beast Machines (Primal): I don't even know what's going on anymore
* RiD: ...
* The Unicron Trilogy: Bland leader/fatass with only an acute sense of humor on his side
* Live Action Films: Terrible leader with anger issues
* Animated: Cliché and uninteresting young hero archetype
* Prime: Blandy McBlandleader

* I suppose this relates to my problems with Geewunners, but if you're going to reuse a Transformers character for your story, make him or her different. If you're going to do the same thing, you might as well leave it in that cartoon or comic, because bringing it over here isn't doing a damn thing for anyone but making you look like a piss-ass writer.
* Third party companies obsessing over G1. We've got 50 different versions of the same character from these guys. Why not try and redo (or create in some cases) toys for other franchises? Most BW season one characters need new toys. Plenty of Beast Machines characters are piss-poor. Armada could use some new toys as well. How about doing some of the Animated cast that never got toys, or maybe accurate versions of Prime Skylynx and Darksteel? I'm so sick of seeing a brand new version of G1 Devastator all the time.

And last but certainly not least:

* Overstocking the first waves of a toyline. For God's sake, we don't want your damn Bumblebees and Optimi. What's the point of making more than two waves of a toyline if all your going to do is make them harder to find than an emerald? Prime suffered terribly from this, and it still hasn't fully resolved itself. I'd like to have that shiny guy from the sixth wave, and I'd like to not climb over a mountain of the first wave to get to it.



And now, just a couple of response to make.

He was enslaved in the '86 film as well, didn't stop him from coming back meaner than ever in season 3.

G1 =/= Prime

He shouldn't be good, he should be insane, like Galvatron.

This is what I meant in my list above.

Ultra Magnus in Prime. He had potential that they didn't do much with, then in Predacons Rising they beat the crap out of him so they could put Bumblebee in charge.

His entire character arc in that show involved his command over the rest of the team, especially his interactions with Wheeljack. That guy had already been developed before the TV movie.

I think it is a big deal and something that would be frankly unimaginable to us, we are talking his spark getting tortured here. A pain that was enough to make Mr badass cry out. He wasn't just possessed, he was enslaved. That was what made him think about what he had done.

Can someone give this guy a medal?

I agree with him on all these points, prime may do some some of the cooler stuff but he's got nothing new going on.

i really take issue with what was said about BW/BM primal having no character developement. in a lot of peoples opinions, he was the FIRST prime to have any developement.

This is actually sort of what I meant. If any Optimus has had any deal of development, he didn't have enough of a distinctive personality to care, or it hardly carried any weight. Seldom has he ever come off as anything but the awesome leader guy with sometimes a nice backstory. And that backstory is usually for the benefit of another character. They attempted to give him substantial personality and development in Animated, but his character was still a bore and his arc was about as unsurprising as dirt getting wet in the rain.

And yes, I do have issues.

Well, all I gotta say is: GEEWUNERS. Things change for pities sake, and considering this toyline of characters we all love all about change, when why can't it??? Let it take on some whole new personas!!! You don't have to like it, but some of us really do!!!!

I love the movies, and IDW hooked me on comics and MTMTE is my favorite. I love those characters. I love the new movie incarnations, brought to the big screen and made so different and yet so utterly unique. I love new versions of the same guy. It makes life interesting and not boring

I grew up with BW and while it is my favourite show and those characters have a sentimental value, when it comes to transformers, I preffer vehicles. Go figure.

I think the most common use for it is as an insult towards those fans who only want Transformers to be like they were in the 80's.

There are varying levels of "Geewunning", for example, the lower end of the spectrum where a person simply prefers G1 characters but also acknowledges other eras and enjoys them, right up to the off-the-reservation-give-admin-headaches individuals who choose not to acknowledge the existence of other eras.

We call these "true fans". For they are of pure virtue.
(And that's meant in a sarcastic way in case some people need clarification. I'm looking at you Sabrblade because I know you'll be along to correct my light hearted post!)

I am referring to those who can't see anything post 1986 as transformers, and only as abominations or as flawed and not what it should be. Transformers don't always need to be at war, there shouldn't always be the straight right and wrong, characters should have differing personalities as time goes on. Change is good, maybe not for anyone, but for goodness's sake, let others have their fun and enjoy!

Thanks D-Max. It really is a shame. So now that MP Hot Rodimus is coming soon, I'll never have to transform him again (since he has no trailer anyway)!!

And another thing, why NOT make an MP Rodimus Prime like his G1 toy? Optimus' trailer disappears into sub-space, and his MP has two components just like his G1 toy and all other media!

Its odd, I dont hate her, I just dont care about her. She's easily avoidable. Its a **** toy, sure, but I dont feel any anger towards her. For me, its more when I feel alone in an opinion (and I feel so right about it) and I get frustrated at being alone and no one else seeing what I am seeing. Like Gen Leader Megatron. I really dont see how he is any special with him being an out of scale simple and plain TF toy with poseability problems which was sold for nearly 50$. It shows a hypocrisy to the fan base, which is what makes me most sad. Because this big simplified toy is worshipped while some great toys from the RID line are ignored simply because hasbro had labelled it as a line for a younger audience from the start. In the end, those warrior figures are as complex as that leader class one but I feel I am alone in seeing that and its frustrating. It is making that Leader Megatron toy (a toy I dont dislike at all, I simply dont think he is incredible) become the bane of my existence. Like I always have to prove myself when I say it isnt a great toy or else people think I am nuts. But to me it looks like silver paint and a nice headsculpt is all fans needed to be seduced into Hasbro shoving a long silver painted tank cannon up their butts and enjoying it.
