Hopefully he can find me a pair, ideally in both colours.
I am going to inquire with reprolabels about the fortress maximus sticker set as well.
Thanks for all this great info, Iron Maniac. My FortMax is going from great to perfect with your help.

Always glad to help, especially with such a great TF.
I like the colors better on Brave Maximus than G1 Fortress Maximus quite honestly. Plus you can get a minty new one for a fraction of the price of a G1 original.

He doesn't mean that Megaplex - there's been several over the years; I think the first was the flipchanger Megatron redeco in Machine Wars.
I think the one he's talking about is the Megatron Megabolt doobrey, which transforms into an odd spidery-head thing which (coincidentally or not) fits on Max in place of Cerebros. I'd actually quite a version of the fig for that reason alone...
But there's never been one of those called Megaplex to my knowledge, it was Megabolt.

hmm, I guess he will clarify when he sees the post. Interesting bit on Megabolt though, wonder who figured out that an RID BM inspired mold would replace the head of a G1 RID repaint...

Fort Max and all its incarnations failed the american toy safety drop test. Which I believe has something to do with the toy causing damage to a child through either being dropped or falling over. Dont quote that though, it is just a guess on the definition of a "drop test."
Japanese toy laws are less strict, so Fort Max lives on over there.

No it was Brave Max that failed. They were going to release it as part of the RID line. It failed drop tests. Hasbro then sold their rights or whatnot to Sonokong, etc, etc, if I recal correctly.

This is correct.
This fact was even in the TF FAQ on the Hasbro website for a while(might still be). The FAQ was something like "Will Fortress Maximus be released in America as part of the RID line?" Answer: "Fortress Maximus unfortunately will not be released in America because it could not pass certain child safety tests" (whew, that was all from memory!)
Otherwise we would have seen a Fortress Maximus release in the US with RID line.

Can anyone clarify a drop test and what it is simulating?

I beleave a drop test is where they drop a toy from pre-determend height and if it shatters into sharp body percing shards then it has failed the drop test.

That's pretty much it. Actually, I thought I'd already answered that in this thread... must've got called away halfway through.

interesting read, thanks ramrider. Seems that the ban on Fort Max is pretty ridiculous, who the hell is going to be dropping Max from so high that he will shatter?

The other thing I forgot to mention about the ko sword for fortress maximus is depending on the version you get it can also be used by omega prime.
